After Dark

Chapter 1

"Andddddd the other team gets a touchdown! C'mon home team!! 42 to 15" they hear on the announcements

"Hey, since y'know we aren't going to win, let's ditch the game and go to Plum Park," Kai said after they had been there for 2 hours.

"Sure! But my mom said I have to be home by..uhh..ten? Yeah ten," Esme said, standing up on the bleachers.

"Uhm..Sure! Just don't tell my parents about this, they'll kill me-" Tyler said, almost squeaking the last part.

"Bruh, don't worry, why would we tell them anyways? Let's go," Kai responded.

They left the game and thanked the welcoming students. Esme brought an umbrella, why, you might be wondering? It was supposed to rain, and though it didn't, it was very windy. Tyler stole it and opened it.

"Oh my Gosh!! AhhHhHhh I'm going To be BlOwn AwAy Kai HeLLLpPp!!"

"Oh my God- Tyler, your not going to be blown away,  just close the damn umbrella,"
Kai said, laughing a bit.

Tyler closed the umbrella. "Can I see it?" asked Kai. Tyler handed the umbrella over to her. Kai tries to open it, but sees a loose metal rod. Blowing against the wind, it hit the other metal rods, making a nice little noise. Kai looked at Ty, "Uh, Ty," Kai whispered, "did you break it?"

Ty's eyes widened, the street lights reflecting on the white of her eyes.

"Oh shit..Esme, I think I broke your umbrella, sorry.."

Esme looks over at Ty. "It's fine!"

They had walked around Plum Park, messing around. They saw a group of people, all three had a different reaction. Esme yelled hi, almost in a very gleeful way. Ty walked silently, saying nothing. And like the anti-social person Kai is, she put her mask on and hid her face, not even looking at the group.

After a couple minutes of walking, Tyler found a toad.

"Awwww it's a toad! I'll name him Jared!" Ty said.

Kai backed up. She didn't like being close to toads. "Jared? Why not phrög,"

"Kai you name every toad phrög,"

"I do not,"

"Yes,"

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Bitch," Kai said.

"Fine," Ty said.

After taking some pictures with Jared (Jared is real, we have a photo of Ty with him :]) Tyler decided to throw it.

"Ima throw it!"

"Ok- wait nO Tyler NO!!" Kai yelled.

"Oop- too late," Ty said.

"The fuck is wrong with you??" Kai said, sobbing.

Tyler stayed silent, then said "I thought you didn't like toads,"

"I don't like being CLOSE to them!"

"Guys, Jared is dead," Esme said.

"Mkay-" Ty said.

Kai was still very upset.

Later, Esme and Tyler had been by the pond. Kai was yelling at them to get away from the pond. They didn't listen.

Tyler and Esme were having the time of their lives, down there by the pond, under the moonlight. Kai shuddered and exhaled, a cloud coming from her mouth. Why did it get so cold? She had a bad feeling about this.

"Guys, please."

Suddenly, Tyler had fallen into the grass. Esme had almost fallen into the water.

A shape arises from the dark,
Man? No.
Human? No.
Monster? Sure as hell looked like one.

The shadowy figure, out of nowhere, starts running up to them. It twitched, but it was fast. Tall too. Tyler screams and grabs Esme by the wrist, running up the little hill to get out of the pond. Tyler pushes Esme up, then pushes himself. Once they were up, they fucking bolted.

After a while of running, they stopped, trying to catch their breath.

"Ehh.." Esme said, tired.
"W-What was t-t-that??" Ty asked, close to tears.
"I fucking told you guys! Why didn't you listen to me?!" Kai said, frustrated.

They didn't know what that was, but they were terrified.

Kai quickly called her mother to pick the three of them up. Before they got picked up, they promised not to talk to anyone about what they saw. Kai's mom arrived, took Tyler home, Esme, then finally, Kai went home.

Exhausted, they all went to bed.

They didn't speak of the incident until a week later. Little did they know, something horrible and scary would happen. Something so life changing, something that completely turned their fates around.
