"I'm so screwed." You whispered to yourself. It wasn't like Andrew was a horrible guy, but he was… complicated. He didn't show his feelings, didn't say what was going through his mind. Maybe you would die without knowing if he liked you the same way you liked him. Or you could just ask him, but were too afraid that he would be weirded out.
You were lost on your own thoughts when the doorbell rang. You looked at yourself in the mirror and fixed your hair for the last time before opening the door. All the excitement you felt went away when you saw him wearing the same clothes he used every day. Maybe it meant he wasn't interested in you, you thought. You felt pathetic, all dressed up for nothing. Until…
"I got something for you." He said, showing you a little stuffed animal carrying a flower. You felt like fainting. "You said you found it cute the other day and I wanted to… thank you for inviting me over." He shyly explained, his hands shaking. "But if you don't like it-"
"I love it!" You hugged him tightly. "Sorry." You pulled away awkwardly, taking the gift from his hand. "Thank you."
Dinner went better than you expected. Andrew was more comfortable and relaxed around you, he even made jokes. You felt like that dinner was a big step in your friendship and your hopes only increased.
You almost passed out when Andrew invited you to his home so you could meet his friends and roommates Luca and Victor. Andrew talked a lot about them and you were anxious to meet them.
"So… the girlfriend is here!" Luca teased when you entered.
"You are embarrassing her." Andrew scolded, but none of them stopped.
"(Y/N), you don't even imagine how much this man talks about you." Victor said. "We already know everything about you."
"He's always like 'Oh, (Y/N) likes this...', '(Y/N) once said that…', 'Today (Y/N) did something'." Luca's word made you blush even harder than you already were.
"He has been cooking your favorite dish for dinner every single day because he wants to improve and make it the best you have ever eaten." With Victor's statement, you looked at Andrew, surprised, and impressed.
"L-Let's eat." Andrew got up from the sofa and grabbed one of your hands. You didn't understand why he did that, he had never held your hand like that before.
"That's what I'm talking about!" Luca cheered when he noticed the hand holding.
After dinner, the four of you gathered in the living room to play board games and see some of Luca's new inventions.
"I should get going-" As soon as you announced your leaving, a thunderstorm started.
"Looks like someone will have to stay the night…" Luca whispered.
"It's okay, it's just some rain and-" The strong thunder sound scared you and you clung to Andrew's arm.
"You can take my bed. I'll sleep on the couch." Andrew said.
"No, I can't let you sleep on the couch in your own home." You muttered, your face still on his arm.
"Or you can share the bed." Luca suggested, laughing like a villain.
"I don't think that's appropriate-"
"We are not in the '60s anymore, Andrew." Luca interrupted Kreiss mid-sentence.
Andrew took a long time to convince you to take his bed and let him sleep on the couch, but you ended up sleeping on the same bed. As you were scared of the loud, deafening noises, Andrew offered to hold you until the storm stopped, just like his mother did to him when he was scared.
You woke up the next morning with the sunshine coming from the window. You felt hot and looked up to find Andrew still holding you, his head resting in yours.
"Good morning." You pinched his cheek.
"Good morning." Andrew slowly opened his eyes but didn't pull away as you expected. Maybe he was too sleepy to notice.
"I should go home now, right?" You awkwardly giggled.
"… Stay." He said when you tried to get off the bed. "Please."
"Since you asked so politely." You came back, wrapping your arms around his waist.
"I'm sorry for everything they said about you and about… us. They can be kind of inelegant some times."
"It's okay, I don't mind." You sighed, resting your head on his chest, hearing his fast heartbeats.
"What am I to you?" He questioned.
"I… I like you. I really like you, but I don't think you have ever noticed it. I don't think you feel the same, but I needed to say it."
"I don't believe you."
"Are you calling me a liar?" You smacked his arm playfully.
"I just… can't believe that someone like you likes… me. You are… a ray of sunshine, you make everyone around you happy, and I'm nothing but a monster-"
"Don't you dare say that! Can't you see that you are an incredible person? You are so strong to take everything you went through, you are hard-working, you are different in an amazing way."
"I'm sorry. I'm not used to this, I'm afraid that you will realize that I'm not good enough."
"You are more than enough, Andrew. Now, please stop complaining and tell me if you want to be my boyfriend or not."
"B-Boyfriend?" He stuttered. "I… I will, of course. But wasn't I suppose to ask that?"
"Why are you so old fashioned?" You laughed.
"Can I… kiss you?" He reluctantly asked, looking at your lips.
"Sure." You put one hand on the nape of his neck and pushed him closer for a loving kiss.
