Careful. They told her it was the best way through life. That if she was careful, she'd live a long life. But what if she didn't want that? What if she wanted danger? Or fun? What if she wanted something . . . more? More than the endless tears. More than a raging battle with herself. More than the pieces her heart was in. What if? But she didn't. She didn't dare.
No. If she had, what would happen? There was only one way — or rather, multiple ways — to find out. Those were ways she would not attempt, for the sole reason of saving what's left of her humanity. Her less than sane mind needed peace and carefulness. Something inside her raged at the thought of not doing it. Of not trying. Screamed at her to go and do what she was meant to do. But was it all worth it in the end? Was it all really worth it?
She should have been careful.
