Song: sex money feelings die - Lykee Li

Y/N

The rest of the evening was quite uneventful, probably because I refused to try to talk or get to know anyone.

Something about having to introduce myself to people and listen to whatever superficial smalltalk they have in mind seems exhausting.

But I knew as soon as dinner was over I had to make at least one acquaintance. I left the remaining broccoli's and potatoes untouched as I gently placed my cutlery on the green plate. The sound of the people talking and laughing getting increasingly louder but my heart surprisingly maintained its natural rhythm.

I looked over the Hufflepuff table, observing three young girls braiding each other's hair, a small smile on my face grew. I missed my friends, I missed my home, and surprisingly, even my sisters. As everyone started to head out, the sound of mingling began to fade, and yet my sadness seemed to be doing the exact opposite.

As I headed out of the great hall, the architecture of the castle amazed me, making me forget the people I left behind back home.

The golden framed portraits of unrecognisable ladies dressed in black had to be my favourite sighting, but I also found the rococo staircase lovely. I tilted my head so as to observe the art in the ceiling when I felt a cold touch on the back of my left shoulder.

"You're the new girl right?" Asked a chocolate haired girl harshly, causing me to gasp inaudibly.

"Yeah I guess so" I replied, wishing I had been slightly nicer despite her tone.

"I figured" she said, a smirk landing on her face as she raised her arched eyebrows. I didn't want to be alone for the rest of the night and she seemed fairly interesting so I asked shyly "So what's your name?"

"Pansy", she confidently replied while staring at my robe, almost as if she was just now realising I could be someone worth having a conversation with.

I told her my name and felt proud of my short and casual exchange with her, finally feeling a glimpse of hope for my future here.

Before I knew it we had arrived at the Slytherin common room. The warmth of the room on my face and arms was immediately noticeable and the sound of burning wood cracking gently filled my ears.

As we all walked towards the girls dormitory, I slid my hand across the top of the emerald leather couch, its expensive scent filling my nostrils.

Pansy quickly realised we were roommates and much to my surprise she seemed content, almost excited but I had a feeling she would never let me know that.

We stepped into the tiny bedroom, each laying our bags on our respective viridescent beds.

"So, Y/N- wait can I call you *abbreviation of your name*?" uttered Pansy but before I could think of a response she rapidly continued "You got a boyfriend?"

"God no, I don't have the energy for boys these days" I honestly said to which we both giggled.

"What about you, any drama with Slytherin boys I should know about?" I curiously asked before noticing the sudden pinkish tones on her cheeks and her teeth pressing on her bottom lip

"Not really official or anything but I have been sneaking around with Malfoy since last year" she whispered amusingly as she turned towards me to analyse my immediate reaction.

"Who?" I genuinely asked, "The name sounds familiar but I can't pin a face"

Her eyebrows arched significantly and her eyes began to sparkle as she said way too loudly in disbelief "You don't know who Draco Malfoy is? The infamous Draco Malfoy?"

"Uhm... no?"

"Pale face, bleached straight hair? The guy sitting alone during dinner..." Her eyebrows now returning to their normal shape.

The minute she uttered the word "pale" I knew exactly who she was talking about.

"Ohh the weird evil looking dude" I said as she laughed "Yeah, that dude.." She paused briefly before continuing

"he's super good in bed"

I couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of them in any sexual position together but I didn't want to be mean so I merely sarcastically replied "Luck you then".

She untucked her black blanket and climbed into bed with a grin on her face she couldn't stop herself from having. Meanwhile, I reached for a paper and a feathery pen and spent half the night writing to my friends back in London and reminiscing about my life before Hogwarts.
