I woke up in an unfamiliar place, dazed and confused. I was wearing a grey sweater with matching sweats and bland grey tennis shoes with no laces. "Great," I thought, another hospital. I don't know how i got here, I don't even know where I am. "Hello?" I called out. Nobody answered.
The door leading out of the room was tall, tan, and heavy. I wasn't sure that I would be able to open it. I walked over and pushed the door with my shoulder until it finally swung open. Why was I so tired? After brushing the thought off I walked out into the dimly lit hallway and looked around.
The hallway was almost empty, I couldn't see or hear anyone. The only thing I could see was an old rusty gurney sitting snug against the pale green wall in front of me. I shuddered. I called out once more, "Hello? Is anyone here? I need help." Once again, nothing. I decided to go down the hallway to the left of me, the lights were almost flickering. It smelled just like an old hospital as you'd expect. It was mixed with something though. "Do I smell...spoiled meat?" I thought aloud. Where the fuck was everyone? I was still a bit disoriented, was I drugged?
Nothing made sense. "I need to get the fuck out of this place," I thought with a shiver and kept walking. I followed the damp, dark hallway until I finally found a door. It was just like the one in the room I came from but bigger. I somehow managed to get it open. It led into a small, well lit room. The fluorescent white lights burned my eyes. There were rows and rows of filing cabinets. They were old and brown with silver handles, like the ones you see in X-files. The drawers were pulled out and papers were scattered everywhere on the floors. The whole scene looked like a cliche horror movie. Where the hell am I?
I walked through each row trying to find any identifying papers or documents. All I found were records of prior patients. This was a mental asylum. At the end of the last row, I found a paper titled "St. Lilith's Mental Help". That sounded so stupid. This had to be some kind of prank? I threw the paper back on the floor and started searching for another door. Any way out of this wretched room would do.
I found a smaller door almost hidden by one of the cabinets. It was my size; not tiny but small, for sure. I was going to open it until I heard a noise coming from whatever was on the other side. It sounded deep and dry, large and almost wolf like, I don't know. I didn't want to know. I quickly turned back and went through the door I initially came through. I continued down the hallway and heard the noise again, closer now.
I ran as fast as I could to the end of the hallway, where there was a turn. The new hall was lined with doors so I walked by each one slowly. The doors had no windows, they only had food tray gaps in the middle of them. I didn't know who or what was inside, or if there was anything at all.
I tried to open a few but they were all locked. I tried each door, slowly moving down the rows. A door towards the end was slightly ajar, and there was a reddish light coming from the crack. "What the hell?" I whispered to myself. I crept towards the door quietly, afraid of what I might find in the room. I peeked through, I couldn't see anything from the position I was in. There was an old bookshelf standing on the other side of the door, blocking my view of what was inside. So, I decided to push the door slightly open. It shrieked as if covered in goop and rust. What I saw will forever haunt me.
There was what I assumed to be a man covered in chemical burns hanging from an electrical wire in the ceiling.
I gagged and coughed up blood, I felt weak. What did they do to me?
The man was cut from his throat to his groin. His organs were spilling out over him. It smelled like rotten flesh and human waste. what the fuck did this?  I heard that growling sound again. It seemed to be following, maybe it could pick up my scent. I did my best to hide in a corner but I couldn't take my eyes off of the hanging man. I heard heavy, wet, scratching footsteps nearby. I slapped my hand over my face and silently cried. The thing walked into the room from a door on the other side of the room.  That thing was huge and hairy, some sort of gooey liquid coated it. I could smell it from here; like shit and decay. Through that stench, it smelled me.
It turned toward me but didn't seem to see me. I quietly tried crawling towards the door hoping it wouldn't see or hear me. My hand fell on top of a piece of shattered glass and I screamed. It started towards me as I managed to dart out of the room. I ran as fast as my legs could go, it was following me. I stopped at a four way in the halls. Perfect. I ran to my right and didnt stop. I reached the end of the hallways and panicked. There was a small window at the very top of the tall wall in front of me. I couldn't reach it. I tried jumping as high as I possibly could to no avail. I thought I was fucked.
Luckily there was what looked like a janitor's cart, I ran and dragged in under the window, I climbed on top and wrestled it open. I knew I'd be able to fit but I had to hurry.
I heard the thing gaining speed and moving towards me. I lifted myself up and squeezed myself through the window as it reached the end of the hallway and tried to yank my legs back down. I kicked it in it's face and continued flailing my legs for dear life hoping to kick it as many times as I could. I must've gotten it good, it fell back. I made it out of the window and bolted into the woods. There had to be a road.
I looked behind me. I couldn't see or hear it following me. Relief washed over me. In the same breath, I looked back in front of me and immediately tripped over a large rock, I didn't have time to see it.
I blacked out.
I woke up in the same room, in the same hospital. How had I ended up there again? Where was I before? I looked to my left and waited for my eyes to adjust.
It was there, right fucking in front of me. Before I had time to scream, it grabbed my neck. It's slimy, sharp fingers crushed my throat.
This was it. This was my end. This was the end.
Right?
