Before the was light, the was only darkness and the things that dwelled deep within it. Beings beyond life, death or any mortally conceivable concept. Prodigious in size and strength. Their mere thoughts formed the corporeal threads that bound existence itself. For eons these gigantuan creatures drifted peacefully through their dark and empty cosmos but that all would change when an adulterant light tore a hole into their shadowy realm.
Foreign matter began to ceaselessly pour in from the opening, collecting into gigantic masses of rock and vast clouds gases. The dark great ones would not sit idly as they watched their world become tainted by abhorrent light and unwelcome debris. They all convened to the source of disturbance and unleashed a devastating wave of dark energy in an attempt to purge the world of this horrid light and objects. But this would prove to be their downfall because no sooner had their divine power touched the foreign matter did it produce an explosion of astronomical proportions.
After the violent energy of the explosion had dissipated, the dark great ones laid motionless, mortally injured and devoid of strength. Watching helplessly as the profaned light appeared once more and slowly approaching them. The true nature of this dreadful light became more apparent as it came closer. The blinding light was in reality the tip of a long fleshy appendage which seemed to stretch endlessly into the abyss. Soon thousands jagged protrusions came into view and began to pull apart revealing the gaping mouth of a colossal beast. And it was feeling famished.
