I KEEP THE WALL AROUND ME HIGH.

An Extract From "THE STANZA OF LIFE"
By Havanah_Reverie

So don't expect me to love you,
So don't expect me to be easy, unguarded, unarmed.
Just let me be myself.

Difficult and stubborn.
Unresponsive and expressionless.
Cold and lifeless.

But I swear, I'll care for you.
I'll try to understand you.
I'll hold your hand in mine.
And smile when you feel like giving up on me.
And it will be fine.

Trust me, I'll fight against the world for you,
I'll even give you the remaining years of my life.
But I'll never confess it to you.
No, I am not brave.
I am scared.

So, Don't ask me to stay.
I always run away from thorns.
I know they will prick my skin.
Forcing the blood to march out.

Just cradle me close to your heart?
Let your beats give me hopes,
Let the warmth seep into me,
Just hold me.
Please.

Yes, my heart has been broken before.
Someone walked over the broken glass pieces.

So I keep the walls around me high.
And don't ask me why haven't I built a single window
Don't ask how I haven't shrimped like a delicate flower without the  sunlight,
Without air.

Don't ask me how come I was made of bones and flesh.
Cause I am not.

I am built up over the pedestal of affliction and adorned with scars.
And I am not proud of it.

I too desire to fly,
To live without any bounds,
But I am scared.
And when I try,
The wind fights against me.
And slaps me to the  ground,
And I hate being lifeless.

So I keep quiet,
Be in the shade,
Being my own warrior in shining Armour.

So I keep the walls around me high.
And don't ask me why haven't I built a single window
Don't ask how I haven't shrimped like a delicate flower without the  sunlight,
Without air.
