I sat up quickly, the creaky bed underneath me groaning with my every move. I looked around, confused. I climbed out of the rickety bed slowly and looked in the very old mirror. What happened last night? My clothes were the same as they alway were. I wore a white undershirt with a deep red corset that sat just under my bust, the undershirt was tucked into some black pants, which were then tucked into knee length leather boots. The belt that I wore had holsters on them which are for my sword and daggers that were laid resting on the dressing table under the mirror. There was also a coin pouch that was strapped to my belt. I slid a dagger into its holster just to keep with me. I let out a shaky sigh and closed my eyes, trying to remember what had happened the night before. Nothing, I couldn't remember a thing. I was so confused as to what had happened. All I could remember was a name. Geralt. Who is he? And why is he the only thing that I can remember? I let out a small yelp when the door to my room was knocked on.

"(Y/n)! Hurry up in there! You're needed soon!" A man's voice called out.

"Okay! Just a minute!" I called back. I made my way out of the room. I jumped slightly when I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders.

"(Y/n)! So glad you could finally join us!" A man exclaimed, letting out a hearty laugh. His ginger hair flowing with his every movement, he was larger in his build, not fat but not muscular. A small giggle left my mouth and I shook my head.

"Of course, gentlemen. I can't miss my favourite customers now can I?" I asked, laughing along with them.

"Did ya hear? There's sighting of a monster nearby. Say, yer good with a sword aren't ye (Y/n)?" One of the men asked, he was tall and slim, short black hair covering his head. He took a swig of his ale I placed in front of him.

"Well, depends on the monster my dear friend." I said as I finished handing the men their tankards of ale.

"I heard it's a vile creature, insect like. Boney claws, spider like in shape." Another man spoke. He had shoulder length blonde hair with stunning ocean blue eyes.

"Oh, a kikimora? Sorry fellas, not my type of monster. I'm sure someone will come along eventually to kill it. And even if I could, my sword is steel. That's no use against a monster. It would need to be silver." I said, taking a swig of my own ale.

"Aye, she knows her stuff when it comes to monsters." The ginger man chuckled, causing a laugh to escape my lips.

"I have a lot of spare time on my hands, gotta do something, so I study monsters." I admitted, resting against the counter. I noticed more people began flooding into the tavern. "How late is it? Was I out all day?" I asked, glancing out the window.

"Yeah, you were completely knocked out." The tavern keep said as he came over to me. I gave a confused look.

"Really? Damn, no wonder it's so late." I said with a small laugh. I then began my work and handed out drinks, taking the coin that was left for the drinks. I then heard someone call out to me.

"Oi bard lady! How bout a song for us men huh?" He called out and everyone in the tavern cheered.

"A song? But of course, anything for the fine gentlemen of this town." I said, making my way around the counter. I grabbed the lute off of its place on the wall, strumming it. As I took a breath in to begin singing a woman came in screaming. I frowned at how frightened she was.

"The monster! It has come into the town! Someone needs to do something!" She cried out in sheer terror. I felt all eyes fall on me, causing a sigh to escape my lips. I placed the lute back on the wall.

"Alright, who has a silver sword I may use. That thing isn't dying without one." I said, looking over everyone.

"Here! I have one!" A man called out as he ran forward, handing me the hilt of the sword.

"Thank you, now I need you all to stay here whilst I take care of the kikimora." I said as I quickly left the tavern and began tracking down the kikimora. It didn't take long before I found the beast, chowing down on a cow. I watched it from afar before taking a step forward. The dirt under my feet kept me silent as I snuck up on the beast. I quickly slashed at the kikimora's back leg, causing it to let out an agonised screech. It turned quickly, swiping at me with its sharp claws. We had a fierce battle, swiping at one another with our weapons. I swung at the leg that was swung at me. With it's other claws it slashed at me, leaving a nasty cut engraved on my arm, and I just barely managed to avoid another swing. This caused it to rear up on its hind legs. My eyes widened slightly, but I saw the opening. As it came down to slash its claws at me once again, I thrusted my sword up into its head from under its chin. The kikimora let our one last cry before falling limp against my sword. I pulled the sword from the kikimora's head, blood pooling around it. I let out a huff and wiped the sweat from my forehead. I looked down at my arm. Blood dripping from it, my shirt sleeve was stained with red. I let out a small sigh and stumbled my way back to the tavern where everyone was waiting anxiously for my return. I opened the door with a shove and stood, swaying slightly.
"Does anyone have a bandage?" I asked before feeling consciousness leave my body and I collapsed.
