*DING*

The elevator opens and you walk into the empty capsule.   Anxious thoughts flood your mind as as you press the white elevator button with the number 15.

"Okay Y/N, you can do this.  You've trained for years to be here.  You know what you're doing.  Walk in there and show them you deserve to be here. " you reassure yourself as the the black pad in the corner of the elevator counts up to the 15th floor.

"... 7 ... 8 ... 9 ... 10 ..." you mouth to yourself as the number increases with every floor.

*DING*

The elevator suddenly stops and the doors open to reveal a tall, dark haired man.   You inspect him, profile him even, as he stands in front of the open elevator coffee in hand.  His clothing is professional, but professional in the manner of a college professor.  A maroon button up rolled at the sleeves, a plaid gray neck tie, and a dark navy sweater vest.  He makes eye contact with you then quickly looks away.  Dragging into the elevator, he looks at the rows of white buttons only to realize his floor number is already lit up.  He steps back, standing next to you, and allows the doors to cascade shut.

"15 for you too?" you ask with a slight smile.

"uh.. yeah." he replies bluntly.

"I'm Y/N.  Today's my first day." you reply, trying to make conversation.

"Spencer." he replies, attempting to dodge your comments to him.

You immediately realize he has no interest in talking to you.  The rest of the ride up was silent.  The 5 floors seemed as if they were miles apart from each other.  Finally, the doors open on floor 15.  Spencer walks out first, cutting you off.   You glare at his back, walk out of the elevator, and into the glass doors of the Behavioral Analysis Unit.  You are quickly greeted by a woman in colorful clothes and glasses.

"Hi, you must be Y/N.  You're taking Agent Gideon's spot at the table, right?  I'm Penelope.  Come on, I'll show you to Hotch's office." She said.

"Hi Penelope, and yes please do." you reply.

She leads you up the stairs and into the first room.  The door reads "SSA Aaron Hotchner".  You open the door to find him sitting at his file filled desk.  He quickly stands to greet you.

"SSA Y/N. It is truly a pleasure to finally meet you.  We are very excited to have you on our team." He exclaims holding out his hand.

"Thank you, Sir.  It really is an honor to..."  You say but then are cut off by Penelope.

"Sir I am truly sorry to interrupt, but we have a case." She says apologetically.

"We'll pick this up later Y/N.  It's time for you to meet the team." He says with an excited tone before hurriedly leaving his office.

You walk into the meeting room behind Hotch.  All of the team members quickly turn there attention to you as you walk into the room.

"Everyone this is SSA Y/F/N.  She has officially joined our team, and will be with us from now on. Y/N, this is SSA's Derek Morgan, Jennifer Jareau, Emily Prentiss, Spencer Reid, and our Technical Analyst, Ms. Penelope Garcia." He explains firmly.

"Hi everyone!" you say happily.

Everyone stands to greet you with smiles and kind hellos.  You turn to see that Spencer remains in his seat.  He glares at you with aggravation, and your smile quickly turns to a frown.

"What is his fucking deal?" you ask yourself, taken aback at the fact that he had just met you and has already decided he doesn't like you.

"Alright everyone. We can do the welcome wagon later. It's time to get started." Hotch directs.

Everyone quickly takes their seats at the table and Penelope begins to explain the case the team was called to work.

"My lovely friends, and new friend, today we will be traveling to the small town of Kentwood, Louisiana, located about 30 miles from New Orleans, to investigate the gruesome murders of three young women." Penelope explains.

Your heart drops, and you feel your face turn pale.

"My home town?" you ask yourself.
