Red Strings (Taehyun × Yeonjun)

Start from the beginning

"You're talking about this?" Yeonjun asks as he raises his pinky finger, revealing a red knot tied on it.

Taehyun looks at his pinky and saw the red knot on it too.

"Yes, that!" He replies in joy. "It means you're my fate!"

Yeonjun was one of those non-believers of red strings. He thinks that the ones he will love for the rest of his life shouldn't be decided on a thin piece of thread.

He scoffs.

"I can reject you right?" Yeonjun asked which made Taehyun's eyes widen. "Then I reject you as my—"

Taehyun covers his mouth which made him stop. The red-haired was heartbroken, to be honest. He saw his fate after years and now, he was gonna get rejected.

He won't let this opportunity slip.

"You don't even know who I am nor what I'm capable of!" He says teary-eyed.

He then removed his hands from the older's lips.

"Let's make a deal. If I can prove that having me is worth it, then will you not reject me?"

Yeonjun only sighs. He's never gonna fall in love with him anyway. He's a non-believer after all.

"How long is this gonna last?"

"Two weeks!"

Yeonjun smirks while Taehyun looks at him confidently.

"Deal."

And in those past two weeks, Yeonjun did fell for him. He just doesn't want to let the younger know yet.

Right now, he's in his bed, sighing helplessly as he thinks of Taehyun. And his smile. And his cute height. And his witty retorts.

Everything about Kang Taehyun was perfect.

He suddenly hears a knock on his bedroom door.

"Young master, your parents wants you in the dining room." A woman with a soft voice said.

Yeonjun lazily gets up and opens his door.

Did I mention that he's the heir of the biggest company in Korea?

He arrives at the table and saw his parents sitting across him.

He lazily sits as maids prepared his meal.

"Yeonjun-ah... Let's talk about—"

"The company, I know." He cuts off his mother, annoyance written on his face since they had this conversation everyday.

"Yeonjun, as the heir of the company, we have set an arranged marriage for you and the daughter of Jangmi Company." His dad articulated.

Yeonjun widened his eyes. He already has a fate—a cute one in fact—and he doesn't want to reject him. He also doesn't want to disobey his parents since he loves them so much.

He only sighs.

"It's okay, right? You don't believe in red strings, after all..." His mother calmly said and nods in response.

This is gonna be hard.

On the next day, Yeonjun walks through the school hallways as Taehyun greets him with a smile.

He can't believe that smile will be gone forever as soon as he breaks the news.

So with fear and disappointment in Yeonjun's eyes, he drags Taehyun with him to the school garden.

Taehyun was shocked on how the older was acting. He was never like this. He was always sweet and kind towards Taehyun.

"What are we doing here, hyung? My class starts in 10 minutes..."

With a heavy heart, Yeonjun grabs his pinky finger and intertwines their pinky fingers.

"Kang Taehyun, I..." He started off.

Why can't he say those things?

Why can't he let out six simple words from his mouth?

Why can't he do it? He's a non-believer, right?

Oh wait, it's because Taehyun changed him.

Taehyun loves him and Yeonjun reciprocates that feeling.

"I-I reject you as my fate..." Yeonjun says, tears flowing down his cheeks as he watches the knot disappear from his pinky.

"Why..." Taehyun started off. "Why did you do that?"

The red-haired started to cry as Yeonjun detached his finger from the younger.

"It's just that I can't love you..." Yeonjun mouthed disappointedly.

Taehyun cried harder.

"Why can't you love me, Choi Yeonjun? Is it really that hard?"

Yeonjun looked down in sadness.

"Because our red string was joke. A scam. Find someone who truly loves you, Taehyun-ah."
