I used to dream
Of a day when
There would be peace
And harmony
Throughout the world.
I used to dream
That someday
There'd be no violence
No war
No hatred.
I used to hope
I used to imagine
We could put aside our differences
Even just for a day
I used to wait
For that day to come.
I used to expect
These dreams
These hopes
These wishes
Would soon come true
But those were the days
Before it all changed
The days before I realized
The things you want the most
Are the things you can't expect.
