Chapter 19 [Part 1]

“Are you sure?” Tutor glances like he’s in great doubt. “I already talked with Zon and he’s pretty sure about what he feels. But now, he doesn’t do anything further because he thinks that Saifah is more attached to Fai.”

“Well, should I go to him and explain that I’m not.”

“You can’t.” Nathee blurts out. “None of us really knows what the heck Zon is thinking. So, let’s just assume that he is still clueless about his feelings. Come on, trust us about the matter related to ai’Zon, let us handle it.”

Tutor slips out a grin like he’s about to laugh. He might be questioning whether this would really work, in which case his thought is not much different from mine.

However, what else can I do when the choices that are left are not many.

In the end, the only thing I could do is to believe them… trusting them would be enough.

Today, I have a lunch date with Fai at the Engineering faculty café again, after Junior sends a message saying that they are eating there as well.

Both of us choose a table which is quite far away, in order not to let Zon realise that what is happening today, has actually been planned.

At first, I never expected that Junior would put me on a LINE call. He might think that he should at least let me be well informed about the situation and the conversation they are having right now.

“I think you really should do something na Zon.” One of Zon’s gang speaks up. If I have to guess, I think it’s Junior.

“Do what?”

“Do something that you should have been doing.”

“I don’t know what you guys are talking about.”

“Zon.”

“…”

“We already know about you and Saifah na.”

Damn it, out of the blue Nathee exposes about the matter between me and Zon. I don’t know whether he will be mad when he hears this or not.

In the end, I decide to turn my head toward Zon’s desk, to check if there’s anything wrong.

However, as soon as I witness Zon showing a worrying, frowning expression, I nearly get on my feet right away.

“Saifah, calm down.” Fai reaches out to me and says her words with firm tone.

“But Fai…”

“Believe me.”

“…” I gaze at Fai, looking her in the eyes and then turn to look at Zon once again.

After a bit, I could only breathe out heavily. Right now, my all and absolute hope lies in Zon’s friends. I might be fine inside for now, but I really hope they can make Zon realise whether he has the same feeling as me or if in fact, the feeling never exist at all.

“Me being silent, doesn’t mean I don’t know. I just want to let you find the answer by yourself, but I forgot that my friend is such an idiot and a fool, as if hurting other people’s feelings isn’t enough, he has to hurt his own feelings as well.”

“Damn Thai, do you want a taste of my foot huh?!” Zon snaps with a slightly unamused tone.

“Calm down Zon, what Thai talked about na, he’s actually worried about you, just like each of us worries about you, that’s all.”

“Ai’Zen is right. We are worried about you. We all care about your feeling. I’m afraid that in the end, you would end up hurting yourself.”

“…”

I don’t know what Zon thinks right now, but in my heart, I hope Zon will understand what his friends are trying to say.

“We don’t want to see your sad face every time you come to university na.”

“Is my face that expressive?” Zon asks.

“Yup. It’s so freaking obvious, the faculty’s dog can also see it na Zon. I want you to stop being stubborn, stop believing those things that are stuck in your brain because right now you need to take care of your own feeling. You better do something quick before it is too late.”

“But it’s already too late, isn’t that so? Whatever I say now, it’s no use.”

Zon mutters weakly that I couldn’t help but to press my lips together and feel stressed.

“Because right now, Saifah already has Fai.”

I  have difficulties swallowing my own saliva. My heart is pumping so fast right now. I really want to approach him and confess that it’s not like that.

I have only Zon.

There is and only will be Zon alone.

However, I can only sit and wait, witnessing what Zon will do from now on. I’m not brave enough to make the first move because I’m scared that if I’m the person who approaches Zon’s area first, he will throw me away once again.

In which, if that happens for real, I might become so terrified that I don’t want to do anything else anymore.

“Whether it’s too late or not, we don’t know. But, if you can tell what you really feel, isn’t that better Zon?”

“…” Zon doesn’t answer his friends. He sits quietly for a long time.

I could only wait eagerly for him to say something. However, as soon as Zon is about to say something, Junior cuts off the call.

I’m clueless as to what Zon was trying to say, but the next moment I realise that there’s someone standing next to my table already.

“Saifah.”

Zon calls my name with a faint smile.

“Are you free? Can we have a talk?”
