Prologue

The second hand on the clock slowly inched forward.

Tock

Another second passed, the room eerily still.

Along the creaky wooden floorboards layed many scattered papers, various notes scribbled across pages and pages of information. The cream coloured wallpaper was cracked and peeling in various locations. Clearly, this room had been poorly kept, dust gathering in the shallow windowsills.

Suddenly, the door swung open, the doorknob bashing into the wall, making an already apparent hole grow deeper. Boots thumped as a short figure walked into the room, adjusting his sleek tie before slamming his gloved hands onto a rickety old desk, words carved deep into the wood. The figure quickly flipped through files that had been stacked carelessly on the desk.

"No, No! Why isn't it here?!" The figure yelled angrily, before violently sweeping the files off of the desk, the contents spilling out all over the floor. Feeling defeated, the figure buried his face in his hands and slumped to the floor, his back pressing against the cold drywall.

He sat there, silently, listening to the ticking of the clock as the seconds passed.
