Part Twelve | In Each of our Hearts

Your shoulder was in just as bad shape, although you could never tell now with how easily Dr. Kasugano healed you with their quirk. Due to the nature of your injuries, Recovery Girl had no way of properly assisting you so the young doctor was brought in.

The young doctor well and truly saved your life.

"Aunt...Nem...?" the soft whisper quickly broke Midnight out of her thoughts and her eyes darted to your glossed over ones.

"Y/n, honey, I'm right here..." she sweetly cradled your face and you lightly nuzzled into the warmth of her palm.

"Where...wheram..." you slurred, your brows furrowing in confusion as the words refused to pass your lips.

"You're in the Musutafu hospital..." Nemuri assists as she presses the buzzer for a nurse. "You remember anything that happened?" she questions and you grow silent for a moment as you try to dredge up the memory.

"...We were...at the USJ..." you respond, your glassy stare drifting from Midnight to the bland ceiling as the nurse and Dr. Kasugano enter the room.

"That's right, you were at the USJ with your class for rescue training." Midnight affirms smoothly with a reassuring smile as the clocked out glaze in your eyes began to clear. "Dr. Kasugano here is the one who healed you, Y/n." she adds, gesturing to the young doctor as the blue haired nurse adjusts the bed in slow increments. Eventually, you find yourself sitting up thanks to the elevated position of the cot and you groan a bit as you try to readjust yourself.

"Hey, L/n." Kasugano greets softly. "I'm glad to see you're awake." they smile, their tone nothing short of soothing as the nurse pours some water into a glass for you. Shakily accepting it, you slowly sip the liquid as Kasugano slips their latex gloves on. "I'm your doctor, Kasugano Rin. Is it alright if I give you a check up with my quirk?" they ask, patiently waiting as you drink some more water before setting it aside and giving a mute nod. "Alright, just take a breath and relax, L/n. It'll be over before you know it." Rin instructs softly, slowly reaching forward and you jolt only slightly when their fingers lace with yours.

Kasugano Rin. Quirk? Crimson Ray. When they activates their quirk, Kasugano can see the skeletal and musculature structure of anyone she touches! They can also manipulate the blood and muscles to force them into accelerated healing! 

A pleasant sensation rolled over you and you shuddered, though not from discomfort, as Crimson Ray did its work.

The check up lasted for a total of three minutes and with one final sweep of their now ghostly white eyes, you felt their fingers slip away. Their eyes returned to normal and Kasugano let out a soft sigh as they pulled off their gloves.

"Seems like my quietest patient is all set." they smile. "You're completely recovered and you can get discharged later this evening!"

Midnight released the breath she didn't realize she'd taken and gave the young doctor a deep bow.

"Doctor, thank you so much for all your hard work." she heard Rin give a light chuckle and raised her head only to see the brunette sporting a sheepish grin.

"Oh no, no, Midnight! No need for all that, I'm just doing my job is all." Rin's grin softened ever so slightly. "I'm just glad that L/n's made a full recovery. That's what makes this all worthwhile, you know?"

Y/n's POV

"So everyone else is okay...?" I ask, taking a small bite of food as aunt Nem and I have a late dinner. With how late we'd left the hospital, we ended up grabbing some pizza instead of coming home and having leftovers.
