Chapter 9: See You Soon Doesn't Mean Goodbye Forever

Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Nezuko shot a fast glance at Iguro to see him thinking.

"When you found Kanao-san's sword, did you see any other swordsmen with their swords too?" questioned Umiko.

Thinking back to what he saw, Obani realized that there were no other nichirin swords around except for Kanao's.

Noticing his pause, Umiko continued, "And how many demon slayers did you find killed?"

"Exactly seven," Inosuke answered for Iguro.

The little girl quirked her eyes in expectance and smiled, delighted by the fact that she was actually somewhat help to everyone.

"Iguro-san," hummed Mitsuri. "Although we cannot take this up in an official trial, it's pretty clear."

Iguro nodded promptly and said, "Kamado and Tsuyuri were not behind those murders after all. That means that I will allow all three of them to live."

"Iguro!" Kanroji lightly smacked his shoulder.

"Okay, fine," he laughed. He seriously hated Tomioka for some random reason (probably because him and Kanroji interacted in a close way before, LoL), but letting him live wouldn't harm anyone at the same time. "Fine, I will let all four of those douchbags live."

Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke smiled brightly and shouted a long held, "Yay!"

The three tackle hugged the serpent pillar and sighed in relief that Tanjiro, Kanao, Shinobu, and Tomioka were safe from (legit) sentenced death.

Umiko finally stood up and said, "Before you guys leave, you should come back and retrieve these swords so that you can return them to the families or friends who probably lost someone on this mountain."

Nezuko turned to her and wanted to change the 'you' to 'we' but she wasn't completely sure if Tatemu wanted his little sister back when this was all over. It kind of got her down because she had gotten attached to the little girl herself.

'Well, at least the two could stick together for as long as eternity,' she thought.

Kanao and Tanjiro were left to talk while Shinobu dragged Tomioka with her to fill Kanao's gourd with water for the battered two. Despite being new to the mountain, there were geographical features she learned about and if memory serves her right, that meant the river should continue somewhere around this area.

"Tomioka-san," she called. "Instead of staring at flies, do you think you could help me locate the river? Yoho!"

Giyuu turned his attention away from the trees he was staring at and pointed slight left.

"The river you're trying to find should be in that direction," he blankly stated.

"Wow, someone studied their geography too huh?" she started to laugh.

"Kocho," Tomioka tried to say but by the time he attempted to look at her seriously, she had her back turned and was walking aimlessly in the direction he had redirected her to.

'Ugh, I need to slip that parchment back soon or if she finds out I have it, she'll kill me,' he thought worriedly.

In the meantime, Tanjiro was chatting with Kanao and the two were happily talking about anything else apart from the demon slayer corpse.

"Oh, by the way Tanjiro, remember what Master said earlier? Well, that means she is fine with us dating pretty much," Kanao suddenly remarked out of the blue.

Tanjiro on the other hand flushed at the thought of the two of them getting married later on down the road. He didn't want to start making any plans, afraid of what might happen in the nearer future, but he did want to live the moment as he hugged her and made a mental vow of always protecting her.
