"Evan, Danielle your father would like a word with you both."

Evan jolted awake frantically only to reply a simple "thank you" to the secretary. I rose up to my feet looking over only to see my brother in a daze, after being in his second marijuana-induced coma of the day.

I rolled my eyes and reached into his fanny pack for the bottle of eye drops that I force him to keep on hand.
"Head back" I demanded hovering over his 6ft frame, he sighed loudly clearly aggravated by me. "Danni I'm 23 tomorrow do you really think Dad doesn't know I smoke a little weed?"

I burst out laughing "a little? Try an ounce a day bro" he snickered and let out a deep breath "your right."

After giving Evan a few more moments to dust off his shirt we headed down the hallway to see our father.

We enter the room after giving a light tap on the door and took a seat on the big leather sofa. Dad smiles wide and puts down the stack of papers in his hand.

"You wanted to see us, daddy?" I ask innocently, Evan sits up straight and clears his throat.
"Hey guys two quick things" he starts off, my dad is a straight forward kind of guy and doesn't really beat around the bush ever.

"Evan I got Dom and his crew to play at your party tomorrow night as you asked, and second how does Mexican sound for dinner?"

"Yes!" Evan shouted jumping to his feet, I rolled my eyes playfully and answered: "Mexican sounds amazing Dad, are you almost finished for the day?"

"All done just give me a few minutes to clean up and then I'm all yours princess" he smiled.

After talking to Dad, Evan and I decided on waiting In the car downstairs. As we walked toward the elevator I couldn't help but notice my brother smiling like an idiot, "well someone is excited."
I teased slightly nudging his shoulders, he smiled grabbing me by the shoulders "Dee tomorrow is going to be epic."

I rolled my eyes playfully, every year my brother has these big extravagant birthday parties, and every year I'm stuck nursing him back to health the next day.

A few minutes passed and my father came walking towards our black SUV. He looked fairly happy and I decided now would be a great time to bring up my birthday plans.

He got inside the car throwing his briefcase to the back seat and adjusting the dark sunglasses on his face.
"So daddy you know I'll be 20 next week" I started off sweetly batting an eyelash or two. Dad chuckled and shook his head "what's up princess?" He questioned with an amusing tone.

"Well you see I met this nice boy at the Starbucks a few days ago, we exchanged numbers he's really nice and wants to take me out sometime."

Dad sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of his nose "all guys are "nice" while they're trying to get inside your pants. Besides, do you really want your first date to be with some guy who works as a barista?"

I flinched at his words struggling to hold back the negative remarks that dared to escape my mouth. Instead, I took in a deep breath and smiled "your right daddy let's go eat."

"Atta girl, see Evan why can't you be more like your sister!"

While we drove the rest of the way to dinner I decided to pop in my earpods, and press shuffle on the first playlist that caught my attention.
I tried my hardest not to focus on the obvious double standard that my dad held Evan and me at. Although it was really starting to bother me, my brother could literally do whatever he pleased and Dad wouldn't even flinch. As a child, I understood his overprotective nature, but as a young woman, it baffled me.

Finally, we arrived at our favorite Mexican restaurant and sat at our table, the waiter greeted us with a big smile we were regulars.
"The usual guys?" we all nodded and dad handed over his credit card to pay in advance.

While they began to talk amongst themselves, I aimlessly scrolled through Instagram hoping to find something interesting. But only coming across the usual E-girl or artist that's signed to my dad's label. I don't have many friends it's always hard to trust people now In days, especially when your father is the CEO of Interscope records.

Shortly after our food arrived I dug into my
favorite chicken tacos silently. Things between Dad and I would be tense until tomorrow... or things between me would be tense. It's not like he cared much about how I felt anyway, it was something I was starting to get used to.
