The Adventures of Prometheus
Prometheus has done some things in his past that he was not quite proud of, but those choices he had made during that day were the choices he made to save the world. Some people say it was insignificant, some say it was stupid, but those people are not me and I am here to tell you what really happened and how a normal being became one of the world's greatest heroes there ever was. It all started on that day, Tuesday 12, 1963. It was a normal Tuesday just like any other day in New York City. The air was fresh as any and the sky was bluer than it had ever been before. Prometheus with his briefcase in hand was heading with pride towards his job he’ll never have. This was supposed to be his first day, his new life, his new career, and it might have been if he didn't take that one turn. See, Prometheus was heading towards the building right on track, and not a second late but one foot from the door and a hand on the brass doorknob it happened: A shrill sound engulfed all the noises around it and dragged through the air like a knife on butter. Prometheus’s hand shot towards his ears and as the people were heading towards that same building that held his future, Prometheus made a turn towards destiny. Running in urgency in the opposite direction towards the sound that scraped his ears, his feet slammed on the concrete but one foot had missed the ground as his whole body went slamming into the stone-hard path, everything went dark, a familiar hand went grabbing his unconscious body. I'm not sure what happened that got him to finally open his eyes if it was the sense of lovingness that emitted from his friend Chlorida Rivers or if it was the sense of urgency and the knowledge that if he did not wake up now his eyes would never have opened up again. But the fact is that his eyes did open and focused on his friend's brilliant blue eyes that he always wished he had. A sense of newfound strength enveloped inside of him and his feet rolled to touch the ground, his body became upright once again. The world looks slanted from the dizziness leftover from the fall. Prometheus staggered then regained his balance. His eyes fell closed and his body felt empty as it fell towards the ground. The soft hands of his friend wrapped around his body, her almost clear hair draped over his shoulder as Chlorida lifted her friend up from certain doom. This time the world seemed clear as his eyes opened again and
that's when he noticed that something was wrong. His thoughts flooded through his head like a tidal wave.
“I have to go, someone needs me, there was a cry. I can not sit here and feel the weakness of myself while someone over there has the strength to move a mountain but has not the strength to push down her own fate. But even in my weakness, I have the strength to do what she can not. I must go. ” Prometheus lifted himself up to stand on his own two feet and stared at Chlorida. His white eyes meet her blue and her pure white hands grabbed his shiny gray ones.
“Please, you're not strong enough to defeat him on your own, to save her, we both knew this was going to happen soon but we did nothing now us and the people would pay are price. It's true you have to be the one to save her but not on your own, it wasn’t just you that let this happen it was both of us, so both of us have to be the one to stop this.” Chlorida squeezed his hands and Prometheus felt the sense of truth rush in his body, if he were to go on his own he would surely die. But what about her would she die just the same if he brought her along and yet what if he lives to see her lifeless body fall to the ground stone cold and dead, just seeing that one vision would surely be worse than death. But Prometheus knew he couldn't refuse the persistence of his pal so he agreed and off they went in the direction no one dared to go. Together and side by side they went down that path. The blue sky disappeared as clouds of an oncoming storm can rolling in. The eeriness of the street made it seem almost as the buildings were closing in on them and seeing all this only made them run faster and stronger. Ten minutes later they heard the sound the same sound that took away Prometheus’s only chance to live a normal life. They turned sharply to the right and as it had seemed like they have been running for hours only twenty minutes after they started had passed. The world seemed to stop and their body finally realizes how tired they actually were. Out of breath there strength and determination still remained high. The buildings were shorter and farther apart than what they were when they started, which only made the troubledness blooming in Prometheus’s stomach worse.
