A Hero

There once was a land filled with happiness and Light

No tears touched the ground, no one suffered from untimely loss

Love filled the hearts and souls of every living thing

But then the Darkness came and corrupted the land

The sun shone in the new world no more

Laughter had all but vanished from the earth

Fear replaced happiness as we wait for what Darkness has in store

Death and sickness ravages our home hearth

But what can we do, other than see it through?

Hoping for a better land with all its pleasure's restored

As trouble and woe brews

Who will rise to vanquish the Dark Lord?

Villages erupt in chaos as Darkness spreads

Desperation grows when not but one answers the call

Evil haunts the newfound hero, carefully must he tread

If not for him but for the people who rely on his very survival.

The challenge is evoked against the Dark Lord

Arrogantly he accepts, unaware of the prowess of the Warrior of Light

Battle ensues on a field that belongs to not a soul, clashing swords,

Glints of armour, will this be the end of all their plights?

Shadows spread through the lands,

Lightning flashes in the sky, and thunder shakes the earth

Distant creatures of both Light and Dark howl and cry

The fate of the earth hanging by a strand

With one fatal sweep of the sword the Warrior of Light conquers Darkness

But the Dark Lord is not without trickery

Black tendrils erupt from the fallen Lord and capture the hero

Together they fall into the abyss

The people rejoice at the destruction of Darkness in the land

At the price of a hero, Light reigns once more

Crumbling citadels are restored, whole forests thrived and danced

No one mourns for the hero, they are only thankful for his sacrifice

For there is no space for a hero of war in a time of peace
