What's Out There? (WORKING TITLE)

Chapter 1

An early evening, the sun is setting, we're in a deep forest. Enormous trees are hiding most of the sky, just some of the rays of sunshine are coming through the big leaves.
In the middle of the forest there's a little village, consisting of many houses built inside the treetops and little houses inside of the larger tree trunks. All of them are connected through bridges made of ropes and planks, overgrown with leaves and tendrils.
It gets darker with every minute, and just a few people are still outside. Two young ladies are walking side by side on one of the bridges, chatting, smiling. One of them has long, straight black hair and wears a dark green dress. The other one has curly, blonde hair which she put into a messy bun, and she's wearing a black, long dress. Both seem to have known each other for very long. As they walk through one of the last rays of sunlight, a spot on both of their left hand flashes for a short moment, revealing a lovely ring with a red diamond.
As they reach the other side, they hug and kiss each other goodbye, now walking off in different directions. As soon as they're gone, a shadow appears, jumping down over the branches of the trees, but making no noise. As the shadow reaches the ground with only a light crunch coming from the leaves, some light shines onto the person who slowly stands up.

This is Cassidy.

The very first thing that lightens up are their eyes. Sectoral heterochromia on both eyes, nothing bad, but special. The one side of their iris is a light blue, the other one a sparkly gold.
Cassidy's eyes are sharp, frightening at first. They look around, not moving a single muscle. Some of their hair strands are hanging in their face, but most of them are tucked away behind their ears. Their hair is wavy, not really long, but also not short. It's about the length of their face because it ends about where their chin ends. Cassidy has brown hair, some light brown strands, some dark. They once got called a chipmunk, and even though they didn't admit it, they liked it.
Some of their hair is tucked away in a little bun, and they also have bangs which are cut like an arrow pointing to the center of their face. Cassidy has light brown freckles around their nose which makes them seem a bit more innocent. Cass is about 175cm and even though it doesn't really seem like it, very strong. They can easily climb the enormous trees in no time.

It's quiet, nobody seems to have noticed them, so Cassidy starts running.
They're holding onto a dark, red bag which they always carry around, inside of it is some food and water.
They wanna go. Leave the village. Leave this forest. Find out what is beyond those trees.
Cassidy already has a route planned how they can get out of here. They run through the forest, still making no noise at all. They've practiced it many times.

Since nobody ever wanted to leave the forest before Cassidy, there's no security, but they still have to be as quiet as possible. Slowly they walk towards the trees which mark the end of the village. The only thing symbolizing the exit is a wooden fence with some wire and a warning sign which says: "Keep out! Danger!"
But Cassidy doesn't care.
They finally want to leave, right into the unknown. Even if its dangerous.

They look around for one last time, then looking for the one part of the fence they already prepared beforehand. They carefully take the plank, but just as they layed it down beside them on the grass, a hand appears on their shoulder.

The idea of this was born two or three days ago and I've already planned a bit.
