Andrew had never been the boy every girl was chasing. He was good looking, good at sports, and a kind person, he just wasn't the guy most girls had their eyes on. Occasionally there'd be girls hanging around his locker, trying to get his number or fish for compliments, but no one was standing outside the locker room waiting for him, just to see him come out of the shower after practice, wet and good-smelling, like they did with Nathan.

Nathan Sebastian Smalls. That name didn't really suit him at all. He was big and buff. Broad shoulders, visible veins on his arms, and hard, refined abs. Now he was the womanizer of the school. He was like any cliché quarterback in any cliché teenage romcom. Except he wasn't really a quarterback, he played baskeball, which was much bigger than football at Oakwood Forest High School. He was captain of the basketball team however, though that wasn't because of his skills.

Andrew had always been the best player on the team, but the coach knew that no one'd care if some nobody was captain.

Even though Andrew Filch wasn't the hot talk of the school, he still had feelings, romantic ones too. Natalie Street. Pretty, tall, almost as tall as Andrew, mid-length almost black hair, green eyes, one more blue-ish than the other, and a cute smile. There was no cheer team on OFHS, but if there were, she'd be captain for sure. She, like Andrew, wasn't the most popular at school, but there would always be at least three boys drooling at her in the hallway. She kind of asked for it though, she wore short skirts that barely covered her behind, knee-highs that squished her thighs just hard enough for it to be visible, and tank tops, usually with a bright colored bra underneath. She wasn't loose or a slut, she just really liked the attention.

Beside her crazy good looks and interesting choise of clothes, she was kind and smart. She tried to help others when she could, and tried not to judge people. That was probably why she wasn't the most popular girl; the top bitch of the school needed to be exactly that: a bitch.

Natalie wasn't. That's why Andrew liked her. They had had a few short conversations in the past, but never really gotten to know each other. Andrew wasn't sure what her interests were, and didn't really know how to find out. Going up to her and asking was off limits, so he figured he'd just wait until she came up to him, even though he deep down knew that wouldn't happen.

One person that did come up to him however, was Carlton Laine, Andrew's best buddy since diapers. Carlton, also known as "Ten", wasn't on the basketball team. Not that he didn't want to or didn't have the strength, he just had better things to do, like playing video games, trading Pokémon cards with his 19 year old aunt, or practice his epic cello skills.

Carlton and Andrew had had almost every single class together since kindergarten, untill Carlton had to move away in the beginning of middle school. He had thrown a million tantrums about missing his best friend, and then his dads had to just give in, and move back to their old neighborhood, four houses away from Andrew's, just 4 months in in living two hours away.

Now the boys were in their sophomore year, and they were close as ever, both the kids' parents meant they were a little too close, and always talked to them about how it "is okay to feel certain things" and that "you shouldn't hide how you feel. You can tell us anything, honey." But no, they were like brothers, and nothing could tear them apart.
