Chapter 2: Mystery Unfold

"We should schedule a board's meeting as soon  as possible. Call all the members of the board sheriff. And have you called Harry Curtis? We need a lot of vervain now." Said the mayor, panicking.

"Yes mayor. I will schedule it on Thursday. And I called Harry earlier. He said he will bring it tomorrow. Gotta go now Mrs. Lucas. I'll update you if anything comes up." Sheriff bid goodbye.

"There's another animal attack reported earlier. Sheriff Gordon went to the crime scene and told us that it was the 10th body reported in 2 days. People on Eastwood are panicking. Whatever animal it is, it must be caught immediately. Just a warning guys, don't go out in the night and be sure to have someone accompany you." The reporter said on tv. I don't know what's happening anymore. Everywhere I look there's a missing person or someone dead. And the police says it's an animal attack. What an animal on earth is doing these? I don't know. I am still in shock of what happened yesterday.

"Hey Van, want some coffee?" Lyn said while making a cup of coffee.  Vanessa is staring out of nowhere. She's in deep thoughts.

"Hey Van. Vanessa!" She shouted.

"Oh yeah! Mom? Why? I'm sorry. I'm just thinking about... nevermind. What is it again?" I said as I pull away from the window and turned to see my mom.

"I said do you want coffee. What is it you're thinking? If it's about what happened yesterday, let it go. It's just an animal attack. And stop watching the news ok." Said mom as she pulled a chair and sit.

"Mom, I'm okay now. Not afraid anymore. I'm a Vaughan, aren't I?" I lied. I'm just pretending to be okay so she doesn't have to worry about me.

I was startled when my phone rang. It's Kat.

"Hey there. Why'd you call?" I said wondering.

"Hey. I'm here at Anna's. We're just wondering what you're doing." She said over the phone.

"Actually.. nothing. You guys aren't inviting me." I rolled my eyes.

"I am about to invite you here like now. But gonna ask if you're okay first. So are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine. What happened yesterday, it's over. I'm over it. So I'll go over there and wait for me, huh?" I said as I get up.

"Okay okay. Tell your mom we said hi. See you!"

And I hang up the phone. I walked towards the dining room and get a glads of water.

"Mom, I'm gonna go over Anna's. Kat's there and they say hi." I said after I finished my drink.

"Okay van. But be careful and don't come late." As she put away her cup of coffee.

"Sure mom. I'm gonna use your car huh! Bye!" I kissed her on the cheek and walk to the door. I put on my coat and reach for the car keys.

"Oh well. What do we have here? You're awake now." I heard a guy's voice but I can't see him clearly.

"Hey, who are you? Where am I? Whay do you want from me?" I said as I get up and hold my head. It freaking hurts.

"Easy man. I'm gonna answer your questions one by one." He sits down in front of me.

"First, you know who I am. Take a clear look at me." He said. I'm afraid but I'm not gonna show any emotions. I rubbed my eyes and took a clear look at him. I recognize him. Brown hair, brown eyes, pale skin. He's Dwayne's young brother. Markus.

"Markus. So you've come back also. Where am I? What do you want?" I asked him.

"Oh yeah. You know me. Just call me Mark. So you're in the graveyard. What do I want? I want you to tell me why Dwayne came here." He asked me as he stand up and get a hold of me.

"Please please don't hurt me."

"I'm not gonna hurt you Harry. Just answer my damn question!" He yelled. He's mad.

"I don't know. I don't really know. I was also surprised when he got home." My voice is shaking.

"Oh really. So what's he doing now?" He really has a bad temper.

"I don't know. All I know is he's back to school. When did you come here?" I said. He helped me up and gave me water.

"Not so long. So he's back to school. What do you think he's planning to do. Is he the one who made all those animal attacks?" He said with an evil smile.

"I don't really know. He said he just want to be home. Maybe it's you who did all that!"

"Yeah. It was me coz I'm getting bored here." He laughs.

"You evil monster!" I tried to punch him but he's very fast and caught my arm. It really hurts that I think my bones cracked.

"Nah ah ah. Don't you ever do that to me or I will drain every drop of blood circulating in your body. Get it?" He said as his face change and show his fangs.

"Ye yeah..." I freakingly said. Then he look straight into my eyes and said

"Now go home, take a rest. Forget this happened. All you know is I came back and was looking for Dwayne. And I want you to keep an eye for him." He's trying to compel me but I am on vervain so it won't work. But I pretended to be compelled anyway.

"I will keep an eye for Dwayne." Then I walked away.
