lizzie is a teenage punk in new york city. it's 1981. her best friend kathryn is her preppy counterpart, her "good" twin. her other best friend has been her partner in crime since she was a toddler, his name is adam yauch. he's been her next door neighbor since forever, their bedrooms face each other and adam's dad even built a platform that connects their windows.

one fateful night, lizzie dragged kathryn to a show and that's when kathryn met adam. they fell head over heels for each other almost instantly, which was surprising to almost everyone they knew. that same night, lizzie met michael diamond. he was adam's "new" best friend. ever since they met lizzie and adam spent less time together. this made lizzie resent mike, so she made it her mission to let him know that.

since then, lizzie and mike have bickered everyday, teased each other, sabotaged each other.. you get it. but as time went on, something was always trying to pull them closer. they fought it relentlessly, until they couldn't anymore.
