Shine On

Heaven
It started at 9:00 PM. my dad drives me down a dirt road, the head lights being the only source of light we could see for miles. It was almost an uneasy feeling looking outside the window thinking there might be something watching me. I looked up at the moon, gleaming in the night sky, thinking of how it would feel to walk on it's chalky, white surface, gliding in the air high above the ground. I've been looking forward to this night for a long time. I'm a storybook writer now, I have successful book series about a group of friends that go around the galaxy fighting evil in giant mechanical machines. I watch anime for some inspiration, mostly my hero and evegelion. We've been apart for a while now, 6 years out of high school, we still talk to each other now and again, but we haven't seen each other in person in ages. I start to feel nostalgic about our time in middle school, laughing, crying, bonding. I feel somthing slowly crawling out of my eyes, wiping my face, I find I've been silently weeping. I don't understand how but I feel a smile being drawn on my face. I stay mostly silent for the rest of the drive until me and my father see headlights in a nearby house. The gps says that we arrived and my dad pulls up and drops me off with a smile and wave goodbye. I take a glance inside the Jeep.

Russell
I've been called to hang out with heaven and Marcus after years apart from each other. I've taken a job in marine biology and just discovered a new species of fish that can be found in rivers and lakes It looks like a smaller version of a dolphin, no bigger than a index finger. I found it on my latest trip back to Florida, and by coincidence, the same week I was called to be with Marcus and Heaven. I am now on a bridge on the highway going over a large body of water. Flashes of red and white hues pass me, blocking the view of the giant lake. I start to wonder what specimens could live and evolve in there.
I was dumped by my girlfriend I had back in college, she wanted to go for some jerk off that lives in Daytona beach. I wouldn't say I hate her, I just think that she wanted to go live her life with someone else and I hope she lives a good life. I have come to terms with my inner self on the open seas, the calming and beautiful waves crash against the boat, those little moments I have with myself and my shipmates when we all come together to watch the sun sink into the sea. Im more healthy, mostly eating the occasional grouper that one of my crew members cook up for special occasions. My face does need a shaving. Ive been growing a full beard and head of hair. The constant trips to the sea have made my hair wet and silky like how mar used to describe it back in my youth. Im excited to see him, we did have a relatively great relationship, but I forgot why we stopped. We were best friends. We didn't bicker over anything so I just assume we just fell out. I pull up to Mar's house, and I see a face that I almost didn't recognize at first. It was him.

Marcus
I heard a car pull up on the dirt path, the lights bursted through my blinds. I had just finished another one of my paintings and now there was a giant streak of paint on it. Frustrated, I walked up to the front door, opened it and saw a Jeep blaring some song from the 80's. I put my knuckle against the window and knocked. The window rolled down and I saw him. It was Russell. He was wearing all white, white hat with golden pins, a dolphin,and on the brim a starfish. His coat had a golden chain on the left side that was unusually large. His cuffs had a triangle pattern of purple and green and a badge that gleamed bright, it had the words "Miami Beach marine biology" it had a scene of a reef with fish swimming around it with a dolphin being the center piece.

"Hey."
I didn't even say hi back before I whipped the door open and hugged him. I felt a trickle that soon turned into a layer of tears on his shoulder. His coat felt almost like a cushion on my face. I've been waiting for this moment for years and now it's here. I felt his arms reach over me to close the door and slowly wraps his arms around me tight.
"H-hey" I said trying my best to speak out of the puddle I was pouring out onto his coat.
"Geez at this point you are going to turn my shoulder into the Pacific Ocean "
"You haven't seen any one of us in years and that's your reaction?"
He ran is fingers through my hair and pulled my head back to show his smile.
"There, is that better?"
" Y-yes"
"Alright, what have you been up to?" He says.
"We'll talk about that inside, right now there somebody at your window"
