I have been waiting on this email for almost a month and it's finally here. I was scared to open the email so I want my sister to open it for me. I quickly packed my laptop in the bag, grabbed my purse off the counter with my phone and car keys and quickly ran out the door to my condo and sped to my sisters house. I called her to let her know that I was on the way over.
"What do you want? It's too early." Chanel groaned in the phone. "I got my email from the academy and I was too scared to open it by myself so i'm coming over so you can open it for me" I almost yelled in the phone. "Really Unique you been doing this since we started getting report cards. It's either a yes you got the job or a try again next year" she said starting to get up. "So, I think you're my good luck charm because when I opened my own college letters I got declined from all of the ones I opened but when you opened the last two- those just happen to be the accepted letters from the two colleges that were your last choices" she said cutting me off.

I frowned because thinking back on the past 3 years they have been pretty tough. Although I graduated a year early at the top of my class all of the colleges I wanted to go to didn't accept me. About a week later we found out my mom had stage 4 breast cancer. We were so busy with our lives that we didn't see how sick she was getting. Chanel was pregnant with my niece and I was always running in and out of the house. A year later when I was 18 we lost her and that same year it seemed like I lost everything.
"Earth to fucking Nique!" she yelled to get my attention. "How far are you?" She asked. "I'm actually pulling up... right... about... now." I said putting my car in park. "Okay the door is open just don't be too loud because Angel is still sleep" she said before hanging up the phone.

I got out the car running inside seeing her sitting on the couch with a glass cup in her hand. She was probably drinking tea. Chanel has a tea for every time of the day. I sat beside her and kissed her cheek. "Here you are" I said opening my laptop and logging in to the computer. "Well it... looks... like... you... -COME ON BRUH YOU PLAY TOO MUCH!" I yelled interrupting her. She started to laugh because she knows how bad I have been anticipating their response about my application. "Okay damn girl, chill out. You actually... didn't get the job." She said frowning at me. "Are you fucking serious I sweated blood and tears through training and was the strongest female in my class and I didn't get the job? Somebody probably sent me the wrong email." I said snatching my computer from her. I read over the email and "AHH! YOU LIAR, I GOT THE JOB! And I start on Monday too." I yelled jumping up and down.

I was so excited because I owed myself this win. After years of struggling and feeling depressed I finally get the chance to do something that I have been wanting to do for awhile now.
"Tete? Why you yelling?" Angel mumbled from the stairs rubbing her eyes. I glanced at Chanel from the side of my eyes and she was glaring at me. "I'm sorry tete baby I was just very excited about some good news I got. Come here mama." I said putting my arms out. She walked over to me and I picked her up. "What do y'all have planned for today?" I asked looking down at Chanel who was sipping on her tea. "Nothing right now. Why?" She asked looking up at me. "Me and Isis were going to the mall and I know you don't get out the house much so i'm inviting you to come spend some money with me today" I said walking towards the stairs. "I'll get Angel ready, so you got 1 hour. Finish your tea and hurry up!" I yelled walking up the stairs to the bathroom.
