And there she was. Frozen to the spot with a dumbfounded expression plastered on her face. I hear screaming as her Mum tries to run forward but the peacekeepers forcefully push her back.
It was only two years ago that she had lost her other daughter, Adella. Kathleen and her were really close. She even made it to the last two but unfortunately, her cannon sounded.
I couldn't let them go through that again.
"I volunteer!"
"Ah! It's looks like we have a volunteer! Come, come! Come, come."
As I make my way up to the platform I look over my district. In the distance I spot the sea glistening, in a peaceful abyss. It was only yesterday that I went fishing with my brother.
As I catch a glimpse of him in the crowd I notice the steely look of determination on his face, and I know exactly what he's going to do.
