Please remember that I wasn't the one to write this. I found this on Twitter by @/faikittyy. Honestly, this is actually for myself to read but idk if that's possible.
The Devildom sky was not always filled with stars.
When Lucifer fell, it was empty, nothing but an empty void. The denizens of hell had desire to look up at the Heavens. They had no reason to. It didn't bother Lucifer. The sight of stars in that false sky would have made things harder on him. Being cast down to the Devildom was one thing, but if God wanted him to look up, he would have to break his neck. so what changed? why did Diavolo to decide to paint the sky with stars?
simple. Belphie.
Beel and Belphie were not okay when they fell. far from it. physically they were fine. but emotionally? they were shattered. losing their sister hurt them worse than any physical wound. it left in them a scar that could never be healed. Lucifer tried. in between battles, between meetings with Diavolo, between dealing with his own pain, he tried to help them. but his sense of pride--stronger now than ever--kept him from offering them the emotional support they needed. With Beel, at least Lucifer could give him food. He could quell some of that painful starvation that was now ever-present in him.
With Belphie, Lucifer could do nothing.
Belphie slept. for hours, days, weeks. Lucifer sat with him when he was able, hoping that maybe Belphie could feel his presence.
Lucifer has rarely felt more powerless. in the midst of losing a war against God, it was his inability to help his little brother that hurt most. Lucifer could do nothing.
until...
one of the rare nights where Belphie was awake and Lucifer wasn't off fighting, they sat together and talked, voices quiet, voices sad.
"I miss them."
Lucifer thought Belphie was referring to their fallen comrades. but no.
"it's so dark here. I miss the stars."
Belphie fell asleep again shortly after.
Lucifer did not. he felt more awake than he had in days. he went to Diavolo. swallowed his pride. and asked him for help.
When Belphie awoke again, it was to a moon shining in through his window and stars gleaming in that false sky.
For the first time since his fall, he smiled.
