We walk on barren landscapes
Praying to lifeless gargoyles
While changing masks to fit the event
And cropping photographs
Of memories yet to come

We walk near shallow rivers
Following grey paths; broken and overgrown
Changing feet to finish the journey
But forgetting to breath in the fresh
air
As we stagger backwards in haunted circles

We walk over broken bridges
Tripping over fallen dignities
Whilst changing lovers to suit the need
Forgetting about the future
To only repeat the past

We walk without grace
Lost to ourselves
But one with the world
Changing masks for every event
Degraded as we forget to live
