Summer Solstice

by: mayevielle

It was the best summer of my life

That summer when I met you

That summer that sent chills to my soul

On that day, I knew I am screwed

I never knew summer could be this good

For the bench where we sit gleams with glam

The wind dances with every move of your skin

I saw leaves like they were snow as they fell

I ask of you what could we be?

Leaves fell down straight through my chest

You told me we were friends

Friends and nothing more but friends

I held my head up high

As painful as gazing at the sun

I knew then that you were so much more to me

That I have to restrain myself from you

It took you four sweet days to know me

To laugh and share secrets we only knew

It took me four minutes to realize

I am in love with every image of you

As magnificent as the sun could be

You could always reach me

My feelings will always see you

But will never be able to reach you

We talked

We walked

We separate ways

We grew

Another summer year happened

Another sit with you on that same bench

In my pocket of hidden feelings

In your smile that made my summer cold

I finally saw that ray of light

Different colors with different possibilities

I am never good at conversation

But with you, I am a verbal machine

It took me four seasons to confess

With nothing but these pure idle

I will gamble our friendly feelings

To cross the line of affection

Here I am in my most naked soul

This very moment will change my life

Counting my breath from 10

And its already 3...2... I---

Someone as bright as the sunflower

Came and sat beside him

She and her light came

Her brightness outshone my courage
