There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust
Lily's emerald eyes twinkled in the reflection of the Hogwarts's lights. It was all so very beautiful, breathtaking, from Hogwarts's roof. You could see the Black Lake under the moonlight, the stars adorning the pitch black night sky. Smoke was emerging from Hagrid's chimney, into the chilly December air.
James and Lily both had stayed at Hogwarts for Christmas Holidays. It was their last year, and soon, they would be out on the open, in the real world, where all the real troubles lay. There was a war going on, and there was nothing they could do to stop it. This was the world they lived in, where they grew up, and stopped being children all-too soon.
This is a place where I don't feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home
So much was at sake. Lily sometimes felt like giving up. It sometimes was just too much, too little time. She knew they weren't safe and God could take them any time soon. So she stopped taking everything for granted.
'Cause, I built a home
For you
For me
She told Marlene, Mary, Dorcas and Alice how grateful she was for them, every day. That they were the best mates in the world, and how she didn't believe there were any better friends than them. That she was happy when she was with them, and she'd laugh and smile a lot.
She told Sirius how she was glad he understood about Petunia. How she was eternally in debt with him for letting her ramble on hours to no end, comforting her without so much as a doubt, and how he made her laugh on even the toughest of times.
She told Remus how special and beautiful he was. That she admired how every time he set his mind into something, he achieved it. How he was the bravest and strongest person she'd ever meet, and how she'd always have his back, no matter what.
She told Peter how funny he was, and how he always made situations less uncomfortable. How he was smart, he just had to work harder. She promised that whenever he needed help, he could come to her, whatever it was. That he was a great friend.
Little things, really.
Until it disappeared
From me
From you
She told James how much in love she was with him. That he was her best friend, and life partner. How he always made her feel better, and how she'd never felt this way about anyone in her life. That he was the reason she woke up in the morning, and the reason she'd return safely to her bed at night. How he set fire to her skin whenever he'd run his hands through it. How she would see fireworks when he kissed her. That she felt safe when she was with him. That he was the only one she'd ever love. That she loved him even more than she loved herself. That they would be together until the end.
And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust
So, Lily cherished little moments. Like this one. James and Lily were found sitting comfortably against each other on the school's roof. It was two days before the New Year. James had brought a blanket and wrapped it around her as soon as they sat down. It was freezing. Her lips were getting chapped, and her fingers were close to getting frozen, she was sure. But all good things overweighted the bad things at the time.
She turned her gaze from the Quidditch Pitch to James, who was already looking at her. He smiled at her, his warm hazel eyes full of love. She found comfort in them, and snuggled close to him, hiding her head on the crook of his neck. He instinctively wrapped his arms around her waist, his chin resting in the top of her head. They stayed like that for a few minutes. She somehow knew he was, too, thinking about the war. She spoke first, her quiet whisper loud in the reigning silence around them.
