Harlow is a 13 year old girl who lives in Montana. She has a best friend named Jack and she lives on a street called[a] Beekle Lane. Harlow’s life is pretty normal except for the fact that her house is haunted.[b]

Ever since Harlow was little, her parents told her to never go in the attic. The door even had a lock on it to make sure she never did.

Today, across the field separating Harlow’s house from all the rest, harlow got new neighbors. Harlow's family loves peace and quiet, that's why the secluded themselves from the rest of the houses in the area. Her family owned all 58 acres around their house.

It was a Saturday in the year 2020 during the early fall. Harlow and Jack were hanging out in the library after school.

“You do know that Iron Man does have a heart right?” Jack chuckled when harlow was talking about how she thinks that the reason Iron man is so cranky is because he doesn't have a heart.

“Um, no he doesn't”

“Yeah he does”

“If he had a heart he wouldn't need that light thingy in his chest!”

“Did you really just call it a light thingy?” Jack proclaimed while he shook his head.

“Uh yea, because that's what it is”

“Harlow, it's called the Arc Reactor!”

“Yeah, yea I knew that”

-1-

“Totally.”

As the 4 o’clock bell chimed, Harlow and Jack got up, packed their stuff up in their backpacks and headed home.

As Harlow layed in her bed that night, she heard creaking coming from her attic. The same attic that has had a lock on it since her family moved there. The same attic that the landlord told no one to ever go into. The same attic that none of her family had ever gone into.

Harlow started to ponder very deeply about the attic. What could be up there? Why didn't the landlord want anyone up there? Why had her family listened to the landlord? Why didn't she just go up there anyway?

Before she knew it, the sun was rising and Harlow hasn't slept a wink.

Harlow managed throughout school like a zombie. Anyone who tried to talk to her she simply didn't hear- or ignored She didn't write down a single word that her teachers spoke. She even got a zero on a test because she didn't do it. All she could think of was that stupid attic. That stupid attic that had caused her so much trouble already.
