"Amyranth."

"Yes." He said calmly, looking over the two girls. Mackenzie didn't look up as Morgan faced him head-on.

"Tell me about them." Morgan's forced casualness was obvious to her sister, but she stayed silent. "What's it like to have an all-Woodbane coven?"

"It's powerful," said Ciaran. "It makes us feel less vulnerable. Like American pioneers, circling their wagons at night to keep intruders out." Morgan nodded slowly, taking in his words. Mackenzie could feel her sister's mind going a mile a minute. Sighing, Mackenzie lifted her head to take another sip of the wine. Ciaran examined her and she met his eyes, the wine giving her some courage that wouldn't have been there without it. Ciaran's face twitched into a smirk before going blank as Morgan shifted closer to him. Mackenzie and Killian gave her a curious look as she leaned closer.

"I'm glad to hear you say that." Morgan started, confidence exuding from her. "Woodbanes are persecuted, so it's only natural that we'd try to protect ourselves, right?" Mackenzie looked curiously on, an expression matching Ciaran's so much, it made Morgan feel sick inside. Nevertheless, she carried on, reaching out to touch him with the words forming on the tip of her tongue. Before she could force it out, Ciaran pushed his chair back.

"Excuse me for a moment." He tilted his head and walked towards the back of the restaurant. Morgan sat back with a stunned look on her face, Killian and Mackenzie watching her suspiciously. She snapped out of it and quickly asked Killian if he had any plans for Imbolc.

"I'm going to the bathroom." Mackenzie sighed, standing up. She walked to the back where Ciaran just disappeared to and went straight for the ladies' room. Washing her hands after she finished her business, she looked at herself in the mirror. Making a face at the one staring back, she smoothed down her hair and walked out, drying her hands on her jeans whilst cursing the existence of hand dryers. She gave a start as she saw Ciaran waiting for her. He gave a half-smile at her obvious shock.

"Sorry." He apologized. She gave a deep sigh and put her hand down from where it hovered over her heart. She gave an awkward smile.

"It's okay. I'm an easy scare." She half-laughed, tucking her hands in her back pocket. He nodded and started to walk in step with her.

"Do you enjoy Wicca?" He asked conversationally. Mackenzie looked up at him curiously as he looked down at her and she couldn't stop the smile from growing on her face.

"Yes, I do. It was a bit scary at first, being able to do things my friends couldn't do but I love the feeling it gives me. Morgan has it tougher, her powers are stronger than mine so people tend to be wary of her. And when we do spells together, it can be terrifying. But it's also exhilarating at the same time. And I just feel so connected to everything. I don't think I could ever give it up." She rambled. Ciaran smiled down at her obvious joy.

"I can help teach you more about Wicca if you wish." At his words, her steps stuttered and a wary look crossed her face.

"I don't know."

"I know you're wary of me, as you should be. But I have so many things to teach you and your sister. Just think about it." They reached the table by then and Mackenzie slunk down in her seat.

"I'll try." She murmured. Ciaran nodded and they finished their meal.

                                                                                                  +++

"Mackenzie, what are you doing here?" The young witch started at the words, whirling around to see Sky staring at her in bemusement. Mackenzie reddened before she rolled her eyes, quickly rubbing away any traces of tears.

"This is where I go when I need some alone time. So the better question is, what are you doing here?" Mackenzie scowled. Sky tilted her head as she stepped closer. Mackenzie matched her steps, every step forward with one step back until she hit a tree. Sky stopped when she could see Mackenzie's face clearly and she frowned.

"Are you alright?" She questioned carefully, her British accent perfectly announced. Frustration welled up in Mackenzie and she crossed her arms defensively.

"What do you care? It has nothing to do with anyone that might 'impede your investigation' or whatever you and your cousin are doing here." Mackenzie uncrossed her arms long enough to put in finger quotes before fitting her hands back under her armpits. "It has nothing to do with you or Morgan or Cal or Wicca in general." She spat. Sky's eyes widened and she tucked her hands in her jean pockets.

"It was just a general question. Young witches when upset tend to do rather regretful things. I was just making sure you weren't going to cast a curse or something of the sort." Sky said casually, her dark eyes filled with suspicion. Heat rose up inside Mackenzie as anger clouded her mind. Straightening up, she walked towards the older witch until they were only inches apart.

"Cut the shit. You have no right to cast any judgments over me! You don't know me at all! I know magic is something to be respected so stop acting like I'm so stupid! I don't waste magic on stupid spells, I don't do favors for my friends and I don't even do it for my girlfr-" She cut herself off, a harsh throbbing echoing in her chest. Biting her lip to cut stop the gasp that ricocheted her hurt, she quickly looked up at the tree canopy, trying to stop the tears. Once she regained control of herself, she looked stoically at Sky, swallowing a harsh gulp. "If I didn't use magic to keep my relationship with Tasha, why would I waste it on her now? I know the three-fold rule; I'm not stupid. So you have nothing to worry about."
