"Will you come home with me?"

The old man was smiling broadly as he held the old woman close. Surely his wife. Even at their age they look so excited, free, and alive. How I wish I'd be that happy even with the old age.

They were both laughing now as he swept her into his arms and carried her to bed. The old man's eyes roam around slowly and stopped when he saw me. A smile formed from his lips.

"It's nice to see you have time to visit Doctor. All of the staff says you're busy," he looked dismayed with that idea.

I couldn't blame them, my surgeries pile up as soon as I want to start visiting patients even if it's not entirely my job.

Whenever I visit them, it reminds me of how different people are in dealing with their lives. And that opportunity really is different from one person to another.

I gave them a small smile and nodded. "I was passing by, and you, lovebirds caught my attention."

I mean, who wouldn't be fazed by them? They were having their moment that could really make anyone stop on their tracks. It was beautiful.

My time isn't wasted for watching the two of them just talk and glance at each other. One of the good things that doesn't make me feel regret...

"Did we steal some of your precious time? You should be resting as often as you can. Your health is as important as ours ija." It was the old woman, Mrs. De Vera, giving an advice while intently looking at me. This time, with a worried look on her face.

"I wouldn't call it stealing. You can consider this the rest I would gladly choose among all the other naps I could grab." I winked at her.

Mr. De Vera held his wife's hand and caressed it gently. "Don't worry too much about her, she's young."

I chuckled. "I guess, I am."

"Dra. Ysavedra, dumating na po 'yung bagong assigned na Nephrologist at kayo raw po ang kailangan sa conference room para mag-assign."

My brows furrowed pero binawi ko naman agad iyon at lumingon sa mag-asawa.

"Excuse me Mr. and Mrs. De Vera. Both of you made my morning. Really." I said smiling sweetly before closing the door of their room. The both of them just gave me a nod. What a lovely couple.

Why would they need such a big room to welcome a nephrologist? I'm a neurosurgeon, I'm not needed there."

"Pero Dra. si Sir Atticus po kasi ang naghabilin sa'kin na kailangan ka daw," damn it. Damn him. That son of a bitch really loves doing this.

"Sabihin mo ang pangit ng ugali niya," and rolled my eyes.

"Dra. ayoko pang mawalan ng trabaho kaya sumunod ka nalang kay sir Atticus."

Napanguso naman ako 'dun.

Nung isang araw lang ay nabalitaan kong hiningi niya ang schedule ng surgeries ko just to give me more work. Most of the time, he would just call me in his office to hear his rants sa pagod niya dito sa hospital when in fact, ako din pagod na sa mga pinapagawa niya.

"I did not choose to work here and work my ass off med school para lang maging errand girl niya." I said before making my way into his office. My secretary just shrugged and let me leave.

Only to see him absorbed in taking care of his cactus plant. Since when did he become fond of plants? After a few days, that will just wilt for sure.
