Life was fine in Devil Town. It still is. I don't really know what I'm supposed to do.
Dad bought a new car, not much of a surprise. At least no one can catch us now.
Mom and Dad aren't in love. They haven't been for a while now. I guess that's fine. I can deal with two birthdays.
I walked outside and shivered. It was summer. Of course, since Devil Town's kinda messed up, it was colder in the summertime. We both walked down the town, silent. I gripped your hand, tight. You really didn't seem to notice. "We'll make it another night," I promised quietly, but it more sounded like I was trying to convince myself
I started remembering a little about the past. When I started learning new things. That idea still scares me. I hate learning new things. Still, I felt a little more safer when I was with you.
They've told me that everyone was dead in Devil Town. Of course, I believed them. I had nothing to lose at that time. I didn't trust anyone in Devil Town, but I didn't think that everything they said was false, either. I was pretty confused, and then you came.
I stopped thinking about the past and froze. I tried remembering my name, but I couldn't place my finger on it. I was really confused. I forgot my name. I tried asking people, but they didn't say anything. I stopped trying. It was getting easier to do at the moment. I used to think that my name was worth remembering, but I guess I wasn't good enough. Maybe I forgot it for a reason.
The next day, I was ready to go. We were both in our dressing gowns. We didn't get to choose them, but I was satisfied with mine. Mine was white and stripey, yours was green and brown. You didn't really seem to care about the colors, though.
I slipped my shoes on and then started unlocking the door. I turned around, only to find you, just staring at your shoes. I didn't really care about shoes, but I would still wear them. I looked at yours closer and saw spiders in them. "Just leave them," I suggested. "They're more scared of you. Let's go."
I shivered again. It was colder than before. I stared at the misty air and stepped outside. You were right behind. I made up my mind:
If we were both falling, but were falling in the same way, it wouldn't feel so bad if I knew that you've fallen the same way.
