''Help! Son, save me!" My mom's loud screeching voice can be heard throughout the house. It was nothing unusual, my father coming to the house drunk and abusing my mother and my mother beating me up for not saving her.
I was switching the light of my room off and on while this was going on. Now, you see I actually got a special ability, that is , controlling electricity. So cool, right? Nope! Not at all! Why do you think this beating and abusing started in the first place?
Not being able to handle my mom's screaming anymore, I went downstairs. She was lying in the floor of the corridor, her face all bruised up. "Son.....", she said while holding her trembling hands towards me, "Save me." I bend down as I came closer to her, "Dad did quite a number this time, didn't he?" I asked while caressing her cheek with my thumb. "I want to save you." A sign of relief came on her face as those words came out of my mouth but it was soon gone after hearing the next nine words, "But if I save you, who will save me?" She started to say something but before she could do that dad came out of the kitchen holding a knife. He started to drag her away leaving a trail of blood on the floor. She started to scream and cry out of desperation but I didn't do anything.
I just turned away, walked towards the door and left the house.
