Sighing, the girl reluctantly got changed into a nice grey hoodie with slightly ripped blue jeans and grey sneakers, tying her messy H/C hair into a ponytail. She then sat on a barstool in the kitchen, lost in a whirl of thoughts, mostly revolving around Pearce, of course.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang and a surprised Y/N went to get it, even more surprising was the fact that the one and only Pearce Joza was standing right in front of her, holding something behind his back.
Intrigued, she cocked her head to the side and proceeded to ask, "What is this?"
The dark eyed male smiled warmly at her, eyes glinting in the day's glorious sun. Looking at them the girl started to wonder about what would happen if she dove into those coffee coloured orbs, before a voice snapped her back to reality.
"Well...I thought it would be nice if we, umm, you know...hung out, maybe?" He stuttered slightly, a rosy tint rushing to his tanned cheeks.
Y/N looked down, feeling butterflies flapping wildly around in her stomach at the thought that Pearce wanted to hang out with her. It shouldn't have surprised her, considering they were best friends, and yet it was still unexpected.
"Umm...sure", she stuttered back, looking back up at him and letting a smile etch her face upwards. A huge grin spread across Pearce's handsome features too, before he cleared his throat slightly and said, "Well, good, coz I've already brought lunch". He revealed a nice little wicker basket from behind his back, and the girl instantly felt blood rushing to her S/C cheeks at the mere thought of having a picnic with him.
Jeez, I've been blushing a lot lately, she thought to herself, hoping that Pearce wouldn't look into her mind right then. Luckily, he made no mention of it and instead held his hand out towards her.
"Shall we?" He asked in a fancy voice, and Y/N tried to stifle a giggle at how funny it sounded.
"We shall", she replied in the same accent grabbing his hand, and the two got into Pearce's car and drove off to wherever he was taking them.
~Time Skip~
A bright, glowing sun beat down through the luscious green leaves, filling the forest with warm rays and a peaceful, happy atmosphere. All seemed to be still in this beautiful collection of trees, something that Y/N enjoyed quite a lot as her and Pearce sat in a small clearing, enjoying each other's company in comfortable silence. The food they ate was also quite enjoyable.
After minutes filled with only the sounds of nature, Y/N broke forward with a question, one she had been meaning to ask since Pearce first showed up at her door.
"Pearce?" She asked in a small voice, almost as if she was scared to break the peace that had settled in their surroundings.
"Yeah, Y/N?" He responded with the same amount of quietness.
"Why did you bring me out here?"
He seemed to be lost in his own thoughts for a split second, before answering, "I guess I just wanted to hang out with you. I mean, we're best friends, right?"
The girl smiled slightly and nodded, then returned her attention to nature. However, the conversation was continued by Pearce, and they just sat there talking about nothing, and everything at the same time. They talked about life, interests of theirs, and other, random things, all of which they had told each other before but were interesting enough to talk about again.
Suddenly, after a small break from talking, Pearce started to say, "You know, Y/N, the real reason why I wanted to hang out with you today is a bit more than what I originally told you". He seemed hesitant about what he was telling her, but nonetheless continued. "To be honest, when I left your house a few days ago after being with you and your sister, I couldn't help but feel like I wanted to be with you again. No, I needed to be with you again. It's like I need to be in your presence". He sighed, glancing at the surprised girl before looking at the soft green grass, apparently embarrassed by his confession.
Y/N was lost for words to say the least. At first she thought that Pearce actually liked her, just as much as she like him. But, doubting herself, she came up with the more reasonable conclusion that it was just a soulmate thing. Like, 'soulmates can't be apart' or something like that. It was kind of disappointing to think about, though, so she just smiled, hoping it would be enough of a response.
Luckily, Pearce smiled back, but they continued to stare at each other, too afraid to do anything else yet also too afraid to look away, as if they wanted this moment to live forever.
Pearce's P.O.V
We were, once again, lost in each other's eyes; entranced, addicted, and longing for some unseen thing. Then, to my surprise, my body started to lean closer. My brain went from calm to blaring red as I tried to stop myself. It was too soon! I kept saying, over and over in my head. However, it was like I was on autopilot, and no matter what my head tried to do, my body just wouldn't cooperate.
Then, just I was inching so close to those soft looking lips, a loud, noisy bird call sounded in the trees around us, reverberating throughout the small clearing we were sat in.
Jolting backwards, I mentally slapped myself for what could've just happened between us, and as I looked at Y/N, I saw shock written all over her features...in the most subtle way possible, of course.
Shaking my head harshly, I started to stand, offering her my hand and pulling us both to our feet, deciding that now would be a good time to get Y/N home. Her sister would start to get worried soon, surely.
Normal P.O.V
Did Pearce almost kiss me? Did Pearce freaking Joza just try to kiss me? No way. Uh uh. Not happening. I must be making things up after being all mind-frazzled from spending too much time with him, in the sun as well, Y/N thought, trying to knock some sense into her mind. Taking his hand and trying to ignore her buzzing thoughts, she helped pack up the picnic and then they drove back to her place, a now awkward silence settling between them. There was nothing to say.
~Time Skip (again)~
The car rolled up to Y/N's place, and Pearce, still being the gentleman, walked up to the door with her. She swore he was treating it like an actual date. Although, come to think of it....
Na. It couldn't be. Surely it wouldn't be a date after only physically meeting each other a few days ago. Yeah, in your dreams, Y/N. Approaching the front door, the girl turned around and gave the boy a slight smile, then, in the most casual way possible, thanked him.
"Thanks for taking me on that picnic, I quite enjoyed it", she spoke, trying to diffuse any tension that could've been going on between them. To be honest, she wouldn't know if there was any, considering she was a very socially awkward person in general.
"Yeah, thanks for hanging out. We should do it again. It'll be another surprise location though", Pearce replied, grinning mischievously as a familiar cheeky glint appeared in his dark eyes.
Y/N smiled and playfully rolled her eyes, chuckling at his humourous nature and also glad that they were back to normal after...whatever just happened.
The two of them went to part ways, but just as the girl had turned around, she felt a little tap on her shoulder. Facing the brown haired male again, she was about to question what was up when she suddenly felt a warm, soft, tingly feeling on her cheek. Her face went red hot in seconds, as did Pearce's, before he smiled in goodbye and hurriedly went back to his car.
Reaching up to the spot on her cheek, a dawning realisation hit Y/N hard:
Pearce Joza just kissed her.
