Clueless

A/n: bit of a crack one because I've always found this concept funny.

Prompt: despite L being the worlds greatest detective there's one thing he's completely clueless about. Girls.

"Heyyyyy, L can I ask a favour?"

Your sudden presence behind him made him jump for a second, he turned to face you.

"What is it?"

"Can I borrow like... $20? You know since the police force made us all resign in order to work on the case I kind of have limited money right now" you explained.

"What for?"

"Ahem... girl reasons"

He gave you a confused look, having zero clue what the fuck that meant.

"Look I know we're meant to be against Light and Misa. But Misa is the only other girl in taskforce so I gotta follow the girl code and help her out"

"Girl code?"

You sighed, he really was clueless want he? You'd think suck a smart man would catch on by now.

"Look I need to run out and buy pads ok?"

"Oh... OH-"

There it was, a bit late but still. He reached for his wallet, slightly embarrassed it took him so long to get it and handed you $20.

"Thanks, I'll be like five minutes"

With that, you left to go get the supplies needed for the war against Mother Nature Misa was currently battling. You better grab extras since you knew you'd be close behind in a few weeks. L on the other hand has just had his mind blown. There was a girl code? What the fuck was the girl code? Girls have rules?

Curiosity getting the better of him, he went to go fine someone who'd had girlfriends in the past and might know a thing or two. Light. Walking up to the office he was in, he opened the door to him stacking stationary in boredom.

"L! What are you-" he jumped.

"I won't ask about that- but you know about girls right?"

"Kind of?"

"Apparently there's a girl code? What the fuck is a girl code?"

Light gave him a confused look.

"You don't know about the girl code?" He asked.

"No? Why? should I?"

"Well at least the basics. No boy knows all the rules that's just an eternal mystery but everyone knows the basics"

L was just getting more confused. There's mystery surrounding it? Light sighed, wondering how someone older than him and higher ranking than him can be so clueless.

"I only know of the five main rules because girls are a mystery and all the others are unknown to boys. Ever heard a girl say 'check me?"

L grabbed the nearest chair, sitting down and nodding. He'd heard it out in public once or twice.

"The rule is, even if you absolutely hate the girl. If they ask you to check them you have to no matter what" light explained.

"Ok but what does it mean?"

"You can't really see what's your clothes behind you can you? If you think there's a um... certain leak, that's when the check me rule comes in"

"As in-"

"Yeah"

"Oh..."

Light just looked at the gears turning in the detectives mind. He was really having to sit here and spell it out for him huh? Oh well, even if they low key hate each other... it is kind of amusing.
