Dominion (Book 1)

THE PILOT

It's been 25 good years since God disappeared and angels descended from heaven to lay waste to human souls, they felt God had favoured them. The angels split into 2 teams led by the evil Gabriel and the righteous Michael. They had fallen to Earth to start a turfy war.
      In my world, we have two types of angels. They are higher angels which we call Archangels and the lower angels which we call "eight balls". Eight balls must possess the human body in order to survive once they leave the heavenly domain.
     Pssst!!!! The Angels in question are actually demons in sacrificed lambs clothing. A reluctant savior must arise to protect Vegas, the remaining stronghold of humanity. But, the savior has more to fearless than just angels, as the new society conspire to gain power for themselves. I believe that it was our lack of Faith that made God abandoned human race and Archangel Gabriel isn't happy and especially with his brother Michael that has chosen to fight alongside human race.
      A year after God disappeared, I was born. But, I didn't get to meet my mother as the Archangel Gabriel and his lower angels invaded and killed her. As a young child, I would ask myself, why does it have to be my mother? My foster dad won't give me any reply saying when the time comes, my destiny will answer for me! I'm sure you must be wondering how I'm alive!! Archangel Michael saved me and said it has to do with me being the chosen one! Of course at that age I didn't understand. All my life, I've been training with my guardian angel (Michael) to prepare for my destiny which wasn't yet being explained to me.
      My name is Alex and I'm a soldier in the walled city of Vega, trained by an Archangel after being abandoned by my father. But, of course, I'm no ordinary soldier. I am the fabled chosen one, a savior and albeit a reluctant one. While this revelation would bring hope to a normal person, Vega's second most powerful human, council David Osborne is non-plussed about me. He believes ruling through fear and intimidation is the best way to battle a growing complacency. While his tactics are decidedly unorthodox, he's right to remain vigilant, especially when he discovers Archangel Gabriel and his minions are in a nearby Boulder.
      I forgot to mention that Vega has its own caste system known as the V-System.
Vegan society is comprised of six classes: Basic class(which includes the unemployed and orphans), Professional or labour class, Agricultural class, Ruling class and finally the "Archangel Michael class" which stands out because it comprises of angels who are willing to fight alongside human race and me, the chosen one!
       Being the chosen one is so boring, all I do is train, train, train. I mean at some point I have pleasures, afterall I'm a man who is damn hell capable. At last, I fell in love with the most beautiful woman I have ever seen against Archangel Michael's warning. Her name is Claire and she's betrothed to someone else and this makes me stand the biggest risk of being a cypher. And also endangering the woman I love!
