I wake up to the sound of beeping coming from just outside my window. I grunt as I pull my pillow on top of my head, trying to block out the noise. It isn't working. I sigh as I get up from my bed to see what is going on. I walk over to my window and see a big moving truck as well as a friendly-looking couple in the driveway.

"Elliana, get ready and meet me outside, we have new neighbors to greet!" my mom called.

"Be right there!" I yell back.

I throw on my jeans and start to look for a shirt when I realize I am too lazy and that I will just stay in the one I slept in. I walk into the bathroom and brush my teeth. My hair is a mess so I put it into a messy, but still cute, bun.

I grab my phone and walk downstairs. Knowing her, my mom is probably already outside with a freshly baked pie. I walk into the kitchen and look up at the clock, 9 am. Uh, why are they here so early, I think. I walk outside and see my mom, to no surprise, already introducing herself.

"Oh, there you are sweetie. I would like you to meet my daughter Elliana. Elliana this is Pam and Jim Halpert." my mom says just as I am walking up. I smile and wave as my mom continues, "Elliana is in 11th grade, and she just loves the school..."

I roll my eyes in my head as she just continues talking on and on. I know this will go on forever so I cut in with, "Is there anything I can do to help y'all move in? Unpacking anything?" I say this more begging than asking and they seem to get the message.

Pam smiles and says, "Yes actually, that is so kind of you. If you just head inside our son will tell you something you can do to help."

I say a quick thank you and head inside. I have been in this house too many times to count so I know my way around. I head up the stairs and into the second bedroom, the one directly across from mine, expecting that their son is in there.

"Hello?" I say looking around.

"Well hello there," I hear a man's voice behind me. I quickly turn to find a boy, about my age standing in front of me. " And who might you be?"

"I am your next-door neighbor, and I came to help unpack," I reply.

He walks, looking me up and down, so I do the same. "Well alright then."

I start to pick up a box but he takes it from me, "Oh no, don't let your pretty little self lift a finger. You can just chill, I can take care of this." He is looking at me with a grin on his face.

I am a little offended that he doesn't think I could handle a few boxes but I let it slide. I don't really feel like working.

After what feels like thirty minutes of watching him walk in and out with boxes my mom texts me and tells me to come home. I leave without saying goodbye because I don't know where he went.

I walk into my living room and the news is on.
