Kaz stretched as she came out of her room.
"Morning, sleepyhead," Kakashi said as he put a bagel with cream cheese in front of her.
"You're one to talk. Your light was still on when I decided to go to bed." Kaz teased.
"Don't go pointing fingers at me. You're the one that wants to get into the Anbu. Your jonin exam is only a month away."
"Which is why I gotta get in as much laziness while I can. When I'm not training with you or Guy Sensei, I'm working on my own jutsu." Kaz defended taking a bite of her bagel.
"Then I can't imagine how you still have the energy to stay up to all hours of the night."
"You're just grumpy because I'll be a better Anbu than you were."
"Watch it, missy." Kakashi warned.
"Or what?"
"I'll take you over my knee."
Kaz pointed her half eaten bagel at him. "Don't you dare. You've never done it before. Get a girlfriend and live out your fantasies with her."
Kakashi chuckled and leaned on the counter locking eyes with her and pulling his mask down so she could see his smirk. "Then you'd hear every... single... moan."
Kaz shuddered. "Gross! See ya after training!" She grabbed the last half of her bagel and darted out the door.
Kia was in a nearby alleyway dogging in the trash bin looking for something to eat. "There's gotta be something." Kia's voice was doubtful.
Kaz appeared, standing on the wall looking at Kia. "You okay?"
Kia moved back slowly against the other wall scared. "Don't hurt me..."
Kaz arched her eyebrow as she walked down the wall to the ground. "Hurt you? Why would I do that? You didn't do anything wrong."
Kai glances at the trash cans. "Your not going to hit me for looking for food?"
"Of course not." Kaz held out the untouched half of her bagel. "Here."
Kia grabbed the bagel and took a small bite. "Thank you..."
Kaz looks her over. "You gotta be what, fifteen, sixteen? You have a weapons pouch, so you must have some knowledge but you don't have a headband. Don't you have any family?"
"N-no.... I don't know my family.... I've been on the streets alone..... and I'm 15.... I've also been watching a team train that's why..." Kia eats the bagel.
"What's your name?"
"Kia Inko..." she looks down.
"Nice to meet you." Kaz stretched her hand out. "I'm Kazumi Hatake."
Kia clenches for a second before going to shake her hand. "N-nice to meet you..."
"Are you still hungry?"
"I haven't eaten in days...." Kia looks down at her skinny body, her skin sucked to her bones.
Kaz bites her lip. "Come with me." Kaz starts leading her down the road.
Kia slowly follows.
Kaz brought her into her house and sat her at the counter in the same spot she'd been just moments before. She opened the fridge and grabbed some rice balls in a plastic container and put them in the microwave. "Rice is a good starting food to ease your body back onto a normal diet. Combine that with some healthy juice..." she pulls some orange juice out of the fridge and puts some of Kakashi's protein powder into it. She stirs it and gives it to Kia. "Drink up quick before it settles."
Kia chugs it down.
Kaz smiles and grabs the rice balls from the microwave. "Here you go." She sets them down in front of Kia.
Kia eats it in a heartbeat.
Kaz leans on the counter. "You got any friends you can stay with?"
"Nobody! I've been alone since I can remember."
"Alright, calm down. I was just asking." Kaz stands up and pulls some blankets and pillows from a closet.
"What are you doing?"
"Setting up my room for you. You can stay here for a while. I'll stay on the couch to give you some privacy."
"Please don't! I'll take the couch."
"It's no trouble." Kaz goes into her room and comes back out with a few of her personal things, setting them on the couch. "What kind of shinobi would I be if I didn't help you? I'll explain the whole thing to Kakashi later."
"Sensei Kakashi?"
"Yeah, you know him?"
"I watch him train team seven... he doesn't know I do."
Kaz giggled. "Probably because he's got his nose in his book."
"Mhm"
"Typical Kashi. I'll have to tease him about that later." She giggles some more.
"Is he your husband?" Kia giggles.
"Eww! No!" Kaz laughed. "He's my big brother." She finished setting up the couch.
"I-oh... sorry." Kia held her hands up.
Kaz giggled. "Don't worry about it." She stepped back and looked at the living room. "There, now when I get back I can just crash."
"Thank you Kaz ..."
"You're welcome." She looks at the time. "Shit! I'm late!" She rushes to the door. "I'll be back later. Make yourself at home!" She leaves in a rush.
Kia looks around the house and finds a girly looking room and walked inside.
She sees ninja posters along with makeup and a Anbu mask crafted by a kid. The calendar on the wall has the end of the month circled in red and the words, "Become A Jonin!" written on it.
Kia looks around in amazement. "This is so cool."
There's a book sitting on the desk with a pen beside it.
Kia walks to the book opening it.
