Singing.
That's all the Weasley's heard throughout the summer. Singing. Luckily, it was a beautiful voice singing songs only Harry and Hermione would know, as they were raised by Muggles.
"Children!" Arthur Weasley called from the kitchen. "We have something very important to discuss!"
Everyone trampled down the stairs.
"Woah, woah, woah, children! Not so fast! We don't want anyone hurt, now, do we?" Molly Weasley scolded.
"No, ma'am," everyone muttered, anxious to know what Arthur Weasley wished to discuss.
"Now," he started. "Hermione, we know you've picked up singing recently, but we would rather it be songs we all knew!" Everyone but Harry nodded.
"Do you mind telling us what you're singing? Muggle music fascinates me," he mumbled under his breath.
Needless to say, Hermione was embarrassed for being called out like that.
"Well, a mix of different musicians, actually, Arthur," she stated. He rushed to get a notebook out to write this down. "I've recently been singing Britney Spears, Green Day, Spice Girls, and many others."
Arthur nodded slowly. "Britney Spears? What kind of last name is Spears? And what is a "green-day?""
Harry laughed. "Some Muggle artists change their names, or create silly names for a band!"
For Hermione, Muggle music was a safe haven. She could hide away in the feeling of being at home, and dancing with her parents in the living room. Oh, her parents. How she ached for them to come back.
During the war, Hermione had to erase her parents' memories so Voldemort wouldn't find them and use them to get to her. They moved to Australia, as they've always wanted to do. However, it was proven impossible for any sort of memory recover. Hermione watched as her parents adopted a little, baby girl and named her Rhea, after the Greek goddess of nature. She loved playing outside, after all.
While thinking about her parents, the Weasley household was invaded by a bunch of owls, all dropping letters in front of the children. Hermione looked at her's with confusion until she saw the Hogwarts crest.
"Hogwarts!" she cried, ripping open the letter.
Inside, it read:
Dear Ms. Hermione Granger,
Seeing as your 7th year never officially happened, I would like to personally invite you to return to Hogwarts to finish out your 7th year as Head Girl. You may decline this offer, as I have been told you already have a job with the Ministry waiting for you, but it would be nice to have you return for one more year.
Here is your Head Girl pin, and the list of supplies are on the back. I would expect a reply from you no later than August 20th.
Best regards,
Headmistress Minerva McGonagall
Hermione looked at Ron and Harry. "I-I-I-I got invited to return for year 7."
"So did we," Ron said, rolling his eyes. "It's nothing special, Mione. Don't get so excited over it."
She glared at him. "That's not the point! I got invited back as HEAD GIRL! Harry, PLEASE tell me you made Head Boy?"
"No, I'm sorry, Mione," Harry shook his head.
"Now, I wonder who Head Boy could be? Hopefully it's Neville," Hermione thought to herself.
