Waking up was very abrupt one second I was oblivious of everything and the next I was wide awake not in my room in my bed oh no I was strapped down to a table like some sort of mad scientists experiment.
My arms, legs, and neck are locked down the most movement I can do is turning my head. Which I do quickly as I try to find something familiar craning my head left as much as I can I see a strange woman approaching me.
"So still a bit groggy are we? Don't worry, the sedatives will wear off soon enough. Easy now. No need to hurry. Get your bearings, then report to me upstairs."
Before I can utter a word she has already walked to a lever I didn't notice until now. As she pulls it I feel my bindings unlatching from the strange table.
'What the hell is going on' is all I can think as I wait for all of my bindings to finish unlatching.
At last the final binding is off. The part near my feet descends just enough for me to get off slowly without falling over. As I stumble up I notice very quickly that something isn't right with my body I don't know what it is but as I check my arms and legs I notice they seem to be wrapped in bandages of all things so much in fact that I couldn't see any skin underneath at all.
With a feeling of foreboding I unwrap some of the the bandages around my arm and to my horror there is no clean white skin as expected no what haunts my vision is bone, bone so white it looks almost like snow in color.
"What the FUCK!" I can't help but whisper shout.
As I was about to continue unwrapping to see how far the bone went I was startled by a voice.
"Well, look what the dog dug up."
I turned quickly to the voice only to be greeted by the grinning visage of a skull.
"You're lucky they didn't notice just how thin you were under those bandages.
I quickly gathered my wits to ask what the bloody hell was going on.
"Um...excuse me but u-" is as far as I got before I realized that my voice was not my own it was replaced by such a cold and dead tone that even though i'm pretty sure I couldn't feel temperatures anymore I still felt a shiver go down my spine.
The skull seemed to ignore my outburst and just kept talking
"Although seeing someone wrapped up like that, they probably thought you had the scabbing plague. Heh! Look, laugh, but don't touch." Was the sarcastic remark.
However for whatever reason perhaps it just has a dark sense of humor but it offers some advice then goes silent
"Better keep that hood down, mind you. The living don't take kindly to seeing their future staring back at them."
As I try to calm my mind from the sudden information I try to speak to the skull only for it to not respond.
"Hello?...hellllloooo?...haa i guess your done huh."
Shaking my head at the skulls silence I abruptly sit on the ground trying to think, this all seemed strangely familiar for some reason. As I quietly look around the room trying to identify why everything feels so familiar I notice that there are four tables all of them similar to the one I was trapped in. Above them are pipes connected to some sort of machinery but what draws my attention isn't that but what is attached to the machinery it's a barrel but that's not what catches my eye no it's the green skull marking on the lid that causes me to freeze.
"No..no no that isn't possible this is just a dream."
Trying to shake my head in denial my epiphany is only reassured by the rest of the room it's exactly how it's set up in the game not far from me sat a desk next to a ladder and some cages there are also to stairs leading to a slightly raised level. There are crates wrapped up or just sitting alone. Lanterns are sat upon the walls but what really sells it is the flag that sites upon the wall it bears the mark of the magisters from Divinity Original Sin 2.
I feel my body become numb even though I don't know how considering how I have no flesh if my guess is right.
"Okay...okay this is fine this is fine just deep breathes lets be calm."
