A Second Chance. Jen and Brad.

Chapter 8, "When Brad Needs Jen".

Jen laughs before taking a glance at the time, realizing the girls are coming over in half an hour.

Jen : Uhm... you need to leave.
Brad : Is that how you treat all guys who spend the night?
Jen : Come on, I don't have time for jokes Brad. Kristin and Andrea are coming over soon.

15 minutes later, in the hallway :

Jen : Oh, wait. Come here.

Jen buttons up his shirt, making him look a little more presentable.

Brad : Thanks.

She opens the door, trying to not seem to "interested" in him.

Brad : Well, I had a really good time... as always.
Jen : Me too.
Brad : I should come over more often.
Jen : Yeah...maybe you should.
Brad : Mhm...

Suddenly, with his hand on her wait, Brad pulls her in for a kiss...

forcing her to stop playing hard to get.

Brad : I hope that's not your normal way of saying goodbye to your friends.
Jen : No, that would be with tongue.
Brad : Good thing we're friends too then.

He goes in for a second kiss, this time slipping his tongue into her mouth.

Brad : Bye.
Jen : Bye Brad.

Watching him drive away on his motorcycle, she can't help but wonder what he meant when he said they were "friends too"...

does Brad think they are more than friends?

2 hours later :

Jen, Kristin and Andrea are eating brunch outside in Jen's backyard.

Which gives her hair a chance to dry...as she barely had the time to even take a shower before they showed up.

Andrea : I have to address the elephant in the room.
Jen : What?
Andrea : How are things? You know, with Brad.
Kristin : Are things going on with Brad?

They both turn to Jen, who had hoped she'd make it through at least one get together without having to talk about it.

Something about confessing whatever she thinks or feels about Brad to them makes her feel guilty.

Andrea : Have you seen him again?

After all, they were the ones who saw her go through everything with the divorce.

Jen : You guys...
Andrea : It's just a question. We're not after you or anything... in fact, if you and Brad are trying again...
Kristin : It would make us very happy.
Andrea : Well.
Kristin : And...

Kristin gives Andrea a stiff stare, wanting her to cut Brad some slack.

Kristin : We'd be a hundred percent supportive of you guys.
Andrea : And if there's nothing going on that's...
Jen : Actually...

Jen goes on to tell the girls everything that has happened between them starting from the day she reached out to him after her and Justin had decided on separating, to last night.

And... having someone to discuss it with is actually nice.

Seeing not even Brad and herself have discussed it yet.

Friday, the same week :

Sitting on the couch with his head buried in his hands, Brad has just gotten off the phone with Thomas, his custody attorney.

Who delivered anything but good news.

Brad was supposed to get Vivienne and Knox for the day, who he haven't seen in person in weeks.
