"Gracelyn wake up. This is the last warning."
A soft snore was all that answered the middle- aged, short man leaning on the rustic bed post.
A sigh escaped his lips as he turned his head away, and moved his eyes at an antique clock floating above the door frame.
Without a second thought the middle-aged man headed straight for the record player right beside the bed.
If this doesn't wake her up nothing will.
Skimming through the dusty records until the right one was presented to him, he removed the record from its rightful place and into the record player.
The still silence filled the room, but only for a moment as deafening music made its welcome. The music was awful; however, it did not make the girl wake. Seeing this the man grinned as he then began singing out of time with the music, and jumping heavily.
"I might be getting old with my age but at least I can still move without getting a strain in my back", the mocha toned man laughed, finding he entire situation amusing.
The bed sifted ever so slightly , trying not to make the situation any more embarrassing than it was. A slightly less than average in height, blonde haired, her eyes being two different colours: one blue and one green, far younger girl shot up from the bed.
She looked nothing like her father and most in the small town assumed that she must've gotten her looks from her mother. But no-one from the town of Wolf Heart has ever met her mother.
"You can stop now." A loud moan escaping from her lips. Before she could say anything else her father interrupted.
"Oh come on you love it!" He waited before adding,
"You need to hurry or you'll be late for school."
"Can't wait to get rid of me, huh?" When no response came, Gracelyn looked up to find her bedroom empty.
"Guess not." Rolling of the bed, Gracelyn placed both feet firmly on the solid timber flooring before ambling towards the obsolete wardrobe on the furthest wall from her bed.
This is going to be a long day, she thought, going through her clothes and selecting a red pinafore school dress.
Putting on the pinafore dress was the easy part; the hard part was neatly positioning her hair into a half corn braid. Her school was very strict when it came to a students appearance. From uniform and hair to shoes and socks.
There was no way Gracelyn was getting punished for her appearance. Her behaviour was a different story. All that can be said as of now is that she had over 6 punishments already for the way she acted this year, and it wasn't even a third of the school year yet.
Most for making inappropriate comments about others; mostly teachers. But in her eyes she was just stating facts. It's not like she purposely injured someone, right? All she was doing was telling it how it was.
Sure Gracelyn was a little harsh sometimes, but it wasn't like she was trying to make a bad joke. Beside everyone else though it was hysterical. Even the Headmaster; and he was married to the poor woman with the squinted eye.
The teenager was going to be late! Thankfully for her, Gracelyn had finished her hair just in time as her dad came back in his daughter's bedroom.
"I thought you said that it was your last warning." Gracelyn stopped as her father put both his hands on her shoulders.
"I want to have a chat with you as soon as you re-enter this house, is that understood?"
Gracelyn froze upon hearing the stiffness in his voice, her eyes not daring to look away from the much older man. All she could do at that time was nod her head slightly.
"I said, is that understood?"
"Y-yes sir", her own voice trembling with fear. He seemed to take that answer as he removed his hands and left once again.
Gracelyn eyes were filling up with tears, her mind trying to figure out what had just happened.
Not wanting to be anymore late than she probably was and not wanting to remain in the house, Gracelyn cleared her throat as she gathered her school belongings.
Maybe being early for once isn't the worse thing in the world, Gracelyn thought as she left the house in rapid speed.
