When I opened my eyes a blinding light filled the room. As I began to adjust to the whiteness I could see people standing over me dressed in all white coats and all but one were holding a clipboard.

They were all rummaging through papers with blank stares on their faces. Where am I? Then a dark fear crept over me and I asked "Am I dead?" Nobody looked at me and just continued with their papers.

I thought they hadn't heard me or I hadn't said it clear enough so I said it again this time louder. They paused and looked at the man without the clipboard, he looked like he was going to speak but then didn't say anything. He just leaned over to the woman to his left and whispered something to her and she left.

At this time I realized that I was lying down so I went to sit up, but he stopped me. I heard his low voice mumble that my body may not be able to fully function yet. I could feel a lump rising in my throat. I must have looked as confused as I felt because he said that he will explain everything later but for now I needed to take it easy until my body adjusts to moving again.

After a few hours of therapy I was escorted to a bathroom and told to get a shower. In the bathroom was a large full body mirror. When I looked in the mirror I was shocked.

I could see a small scar across my left cheek. As I took a closer look I could see that my once chocolate brown eyes were now an icy blue, and my brown hair had a thick, bleach blonde streak in it.

As I undress I could see where I have had severe burns in each of my shoulders. I figured they must have been from the accident. But when took my shirt off is when the real shock began to set in because my stomach looked like it had been slashed open with a machete then sewed back up. "What happened to me?" I thought to myself.

I quickly got a shower and got out, although I didn't want to because it felt so good on my aching body.

As I reached for my towel I noticed a pile of clothes on the sink counter with a note on top that read:

Conference room 32A

6:00 pm.

(Don't be late!)

I looked at the clock on the wall above the sink. That was in 20 minutes. The clothes that had been brought to me looked kind of like a uniform you would see in a mental asylum. They were all white kakis and a white, long sleeve, cotton, button down shirt.
