You wake up in a dark room. There is no light. You can't see anything, no matter how hard you try. You try to move your arm, but to no avail. You are tied to a chair.
You feel extremely tired and dazed, with a pounding headache. You hear noises from outside the room, and suddenly realize that you remember what you did last night. You were walking home late, and got a message on your phone.
It was a notification from the app you got the other day to help you practice Spanish. You think it was called-
You hear a loud thud from outside. You sit still, terrified. All of a sudden, you hear a klinking noise outside the door to the room you're in. You thin km it may be a set of keys. You start to hyperventilate.
The door opens, and a dim light comes on. Your vision is very blurred, and you struggle to see who's the doorway.
"Look who's finally awake! Ready to learn some Spanish?"
The voice is deep, but sounds extremely nerdy. You squint your eyes and realize it's Duo, the Duolingo owl! His eyes are a light shade of red, and his pupils are dilated. He, clearly, has been doing something. His fingers are twitching, and covered in blood. In one wing he's holding a .22 revolver. He stares at you with an intense gaze, and one twitching right eye.
You squirm in your seat, trying to get out of the mess of duct tape and rope.
"Unh- uh! I tried those extra tight, so you would lose your circulation! Now...." Duo walks toward you and turns your chair around, so you are facing the wall. He walks back by the door and hits a button.
The wall starts to go up, revealing a window. The window goes into a room, where the lights flicker on. You squint to see, but you are sure who the people are in that room- your parents and your crush! They are tied to chairs as well, screaming and jerking around trying to get out.
Duo walks out of the room and enters the room where your family and crush are. He clicks a button, and over an intercom you hear:
"Now," Duo points the gun at your mother, who is crying and trembling in fear. "Count to 10 in Spanish, or Le dispararé a tu madre."
