Chapter 22: Minneapolis, MN

"To the fans who got in early, please excuse the guys moving a table off the stage... and the broken candle," I said and kicked the broken pieces off glass to the side of the stage. "Kellin set up this gorgeous lunch for us with a candle that Kai broke," I shot him a glare, "and my favorite food. He's too good to me it's not fair. And ya know," I said, pausing to get a look at the crowd, talking right to them. "You guys have played such a big part in our relationship and I would like to share the celebration of our one month anniversary with you guys. So I'm gonna call one of you up, and you get to pick something you want to happen after the show. For example; an after party or free meet and greats with pictures with all of the band members. Sound cool?" I yelled into the microphone and the kids went crazy.  "Awesome! I'll do that at the end of the show. But for now, I'm gonna just sing. I hope that's okay," I winked at the crowd.

We went through our set list and added in a few extra covers due to the extra time in the schedule. The fans were great and sang really loud. I even heard some screamers. "Alright! Well I guess it's time to pick that lucky fan and bring 'em up on stage. Okay, umm," I looked around, walking the length of the stage to make sure I saw everyone. "Kid over there in the light blue Atelphobia shirt!" I pointed to a brown haired kid, probably about seventeen or eighteen. He looked in shock and motioned to himself, confused as to if I actually meant him. "Yeah, you! C'mon up!" I smiled. Turning around, I motioned to the rest of the band to step up to the front. The kid was scrambling through the crowd in an attempt to get to the stage. A couple of the security guards went out into the audience to help. It took him a couple minutes to actually get up on stage. He looked at Kai and smiled. If I didn't know better, I'd say he was gaga for him. "So whatdia want, man?" I asked, slightly laughing at how stunned he was. The kids in the crowd went wild, shouting out suggestions. I think I heard fuckfest somewhere but I don't know.

"What did you have in mind when you said after party?" He winked. I like this kid!

"Well...," I looked at Hale then out at how the gate containing the audience was set. "I guess we can move those gates back and add a couple links to it... If the security guards would be as kind as to stay an extra couple hours, we can have a little party. I'd have to invite SWS, though. And security would have to be okay with it," I said and looked at the head of security. He nodded, so I continued. "Alrighty. The band is gonna move the gates and I'm gonna go get the others."

By the time I got back, hand in hand with Kells, half the audience had left. It was a Thursday, so I understood why people had to leave. School and work starts up in the morning. It worked out, though. Less people to talk to. I was heading to the gates when Kells pulled me back. "Be careful, okay? Scream for me if you need me," he smiled and kissed my forehead. I ran in, the crowd screaming. Almost all of them ran right up to me, only leaving a foot in diameter of breathing room. "Hey, guys, listen. I'll try and talk to as many of you as I can but let me come to you, okay?" I yelled loud enough for everyone to hear. "Anyone who crowds around me will be kicked out. I'm not gonna put up with too much stalking tonight, sorry!" I laughed and the crowd dispersed. Alright, a couple fans at a time.

I walked over to a small group including a girl probably about my age with a little girl, a fifteen or sixteen year old boy, and a girl around twelve or thirteen. "Hey, guys," I smiled.

"Oh my God. You're my idol!" The younger girl squealed. She was practically jumping up and down with excitement.

"Aw! Well thank you! What's your name?" I smiled.

"I'm Kimberly and this is my big brother, Pete," she motioned to the teenage guy. "I want to be able to scream like you one day," she smiled. Her dark black eyeliner was done better than mine and her hair was dark with red streaks.

"Practice makes perfect. You can do it, I believe in you. And what's your name?" I turned to the chick holding the little girl.

"Layla. Nice to meet you," she smiled. She was pretty and had a gorgeous smile.

"And who's this cutie?" I looked at the little girl.

"This is my daughter, Riley. She's four but a huge fan. She headbangs to your music in the car," Layla laughed.

"She's adorable. So how'd you guys enjoy the show?"

"It was so rad! Can you sign this for me?" Kimmy handed me a copy of my latest album. It's great to know some people still bought CD's. I agreed and wrote my name on the plastic cover with a picture of my band on it. We'd just finished the last song on the album and needed a fast and easy cover. It came out pretty good, I think. Hale was in a rush to get to his girlfriend, who he since broke up with.

"There ya go. I gotta go but if you guys have any questions, come on over to me. Also, if anyone gives you guys problems, especially little Riley, here," I smiled, "let me know. Catch ya guys later!" I walked away, waving to them in the process.
