gasoline

like a virus, you embedded yourself into my veins,

you filled me with ecstasy,

a nightmare disguised as my greatest dream,

you came in and out of my life,

like a beautiful tide that splashed salt onto my wounds,

my cavernous wounds,

my little catastrophic love notes for you,

written in flawed flesh.

i tried to escape your wrath,

but its soft touch beckoned me,

drowning in the black of your soul,

i found comfort in your words,

my incessant misery was your doing,

but in blindness i was lost,

i tried to banish your lingering flame,

but i used gasoline.
