The eerie darkness of that night would never escape Amane's memory. He clearly remembered the pitch-black curtain draped over the sky, and the twisted, warped shapes that the stars made against the blackness. The milky speckles twirled and danced along the sky in various patterns, tugging at the corners of his lips in a way that almost made Amane smile.
It was hard to shove aside the worries corrupting his mind, but eventually, Amane stopped walking over the soft sand below his feet and just... stopped thinking. He was alone. Nothing from his life could touch me. Not a single thing could harm him. He stared up at the sky and studied the silver glow of the moon. Tsukasa smiled down at him with love so intense it warmed Amane's soul like a fireplace on a cold winter's night. And there he was, standing on the shore at midnight to escape my life at home, not wanting to do anything but cry. But the look that the moon gave Amane didn't cause the storm to go on inside of me. Instead, a hot blue fire flickered in his heart and soon started to grow, eating at all of the dark emotions in its path. His worries burned away, and the tears that were starting to form at the corners of Amane's eyes melted down his cold face with a rush of relief.
Earlier that day Rays of dull sunlight peeked through Amane's window as the teen awoke with a groan. Everything had recently pilled up on him, including his younger brothers harassment. He was sick of it, but he could only freeze when it happened. Groggily, Amane got out of bed and was quick to realise the regret he already had. A sigh escaped his mouth as he hesitantly exited his room, walking down the stairs of the house. His brother, Tsukasa, sat on the floor near the couch as Amane came downstairs.
Tsukasa instantly lifted his head and ran to hug his older twin. "Amane!" He cheered, wrapping his legs and arms around Amane. In reaction to this, Amane flinched and looked down at Tsukasa. When Tsukasa wasn't angry or violent, he can act really peaceful and sweet. Amane knew his true nature though. Nobody knew the twins like they knew each other after all. "Morning Tsukasa." Amane mumbled, practically pulling his brother off him.
The worst part is that Amane never knew he could willingly do that.
"I'll go and make food." Amane hurried off to the kitchen, relieved that he could get away from his brother for a little. He slowly started to make breakfast for the two, spending as much time on cooking as possible. The older twins amber eyes started to rest upon a shining, sharp knife. Within a minute, the knife was hid inside one of Amane's pockets as he walked back over to his twin and passed him a plate of food.
A few hours passed by, fairly quickly for the twins. Amane didn't know what to do with the knife, but he knew he would have to decide soon. He laid on the carpet of the living room, staring up at the ceiling as if it was a new video game that had just been released. A lot of thoughts circled around Amane's head as he groaned mentally in annoyance. He wanted to get rid of his brother, but he had the thought that he wouldn't be able to. Seeing Tsukasa's face and dead body during the act would scar Amane for life more than the thought killing his own brother would. But then again, it would scar anyone by killing their own relative.
"Tsukasa...Could you meet me behind the school at midnight?"
Those words barely made it out of Amane's mouth. He couldn't believe that he actually had the courage to do this, but he still didn't know what to do when he actually did it.
"Sure!" Tsukasa's words instantly stung Amane like thorns piercing his body. "This better not be one of your tricks though." The younger twin laughed, patting his older brothers head. "Or you'll know what will happen." Tsukasa's hand moved to Amane's cheek, grazing it slightly.
Before Amane knew, he was stood behind Kamome Academy while the moon shone a silver circle in the sky above. He had managed some attempts of spending time with Tsukasa, but not much though. It wouldn't matter to Amane or Tsukasa soon anyway. The Amane's plan for murder was only known to the culprit and he was persuaded to keep it that way until the act. Within a few minutes, he could see Tsukasa sprinting towards him with his 'signature' smile.
"Amane! You're actually here!" Tsukasa called out, now standing in front of his older twin brother for the last time. As if it was in a flash, the younger boy was on the ground while being held down by Amane.
"Look Tsukasa. I'm not here to have a dance or play with you. I've had enough. Everyday you go on and on and it's like a never ending cycle of pain for me. You never think of my feelings when you punch, kick or do something worse to me. I guess today was the only day where you haven't done something. The only day." Amane raved on, pulling the knife out of his pocket. "And now it's lead to this. I tried to avoid this and you don't know how badly I've tried not to." He added, tears coming to the brim of his eyes. "I can't take it anymore."
Calmly, Tsukasa stared up at the boy on top of him and put one of his fingers onto Amane's lips to quiet him. "That's the face I want to see. Looks like everything has pushed you to your limit. Go ahead and kill me, you know the consequences will be worse Amane." Tsukasa smiled, already prepared for the knife to stab into him. "I'll see you soon enough anyway."
Amane teared up a bit, clearly not prepared for the job he had chosen to do. Hot tears poured down his cheek soon enough as he sobbed as he stabbed the knife into his twin below him. Tsukasa coughed up blood as the life was stolen from his body slowly, but surely.
The older twin felt remorse as the deed was done, quickly fleeing from the scene in front of him. He was hoping that no one around had seen what happened.
From then on, Tsukasa was just a burden in Amane's memory.
