It was the begining of the senior year. Our main character, Mia was sitting in a café with her new best friend Sophia. They were just talking about regular teenage stuff. They were actually just getting to know each other. Hating each other for 3 years and then suddenly becoming best friends was such a big transition. Having figured out they had really had no reasons for hating each other, they decided to end the feud. That's how they gradually became the best of friends.
Let me get back to the story.
So they were sitting there, drinking their usual espressos and chatting away.
"So Mia, I stumbled upon an interesting question online a few days ago. Hypothetically, if you could date one person in our class, who would it be?", asked Sophia, resting her cigarette in the ash tray. Mia was left in quite a shock, she hadn't particularly expected this question to come up. Giving it a thorough thought she also rested her cigarette in the ash tray.
" Hm, it would have to be Rex. I believe we would be great, cause we kind of get each other in a weirdly twisted way.", Mia said, not really sure how to explain it. Her and Rex did click very fast. Their mutual love for English, Eminem and Harry Potter left them with abundance of topics. Sophomore year, the yeah he came into her class, they didn't do much talking, just a few sentences here and there. He was also very popular and she was kind of a loner. Just to set things straight, this isn't that kind of a story, they didn't really had cliques, just groups of friends. And she didn't fit into his group. Having less money and not really being the club type, she didn't fit in with them,so she held her distance. He had money, a popular girl from the other class as his girlfriend and everything seemed perfect for him. She, not so rich with huge self esteem problem, not so perfect life. Although she didn't complain. Then, she wouldn't have even thought of being with him, even though she didn't really know him. Jerks who listened to mainstream music is what she called them. She appreciated music in general but was always more drawn to rock, and because of that they didn't really like her. God forbid someone didn't listen to their music or didn't dress the way they do. Anyways, where was I? Oh,yeah.
So the sophomore year went by and onto came the junior year.
They accidentally sat next to each other in philosophy. She was on time and he was late as usual, so the only available spot was the one next to her. Not really liking philosophy, they started slowly talking. Her, being the 'rebel' she was, she didn't really attend majority of philosophy. So when the second term came, she had to many absences so she was forced to attend the classes. And that's when they really kicked it of. He noticed her Eminem phone case so they spend the next few weeks talking about it. Next thing he noticed was her Harry Potter book she always carried with her in case she gets bored. Both of them being huge fanatics brought them together. But there was a really big problem: he still had a girlfriend, and she was not about to hit on someone's boyfriend. His friend teased him about his girlfriend, because she was, apparently, a controlling psycho.
"It's not healthy", "She's crazy", "You should really end it as soon as possible", "Just dump her", is what he listened to every day. He had this unhealthy obsession with her. I guess you can really manipulate someone into worshipping you. And the girlfriend hated Mia. To her, it seemed like Mia was trying to steal her boyfriend. Mia hated that she thought about her that way, she thought of him just as a great friend,a fellow Eminem stan. The night her feeling kind of took a wrong turn was a birthday party. The two of them and a couple of classmates went together. Everyone from the group, except Rex,were seated at a table in the middle. An annoying blond to her left and no one to her right, Mia didn't have anyone to talk to, she was dying out of boredom. With people he didn't know occupying the table, Rex was dying out of boredom as well. So he decided to pick his things up and go sit next to Mia. She was drinking wine and he was drinking vodka. While she drank her glass slowly, he was drinking glass after glass. On his third glass he seemed relaxed. And they started chatting about everything and anything. Classmates around the table were teasing them but they didn't seem to notice, they were in their own little bubble and in that moment, nobody could pop that bubble. After her second glass of wine, she felt a burst of confidence and asked him to dance. They dances and laughed and had such a good time the whole night. He walked her home and gave her a kiss on the cheek. She went home all blushy and overly happy. But tomorrow came to soon, and with that came the realization that he still had a girlfriend. So she decided to distance herself for a while, to make sure not to start liking him when he's taken.
