I stared at the picture on the wall and scowled as my earpiece crackled. My gun was on the table and I absentmindedly twirled it, lost in thought. Everytime I thought I was 2 steps ahead of him he was 5 steps ahead of me. I tapped my foot impatiently as I awaited  information.

The Winter Soldier. Bucky Barnes. A revered assassin of exceptional calibre. So precise, so thorough and so strategic, most people didn't believe he existed-a ghost story if you will. I believed in him alright, i planned to take him down and I believed I would, just as I did when I took this case 3 years ago.

3 years of close calls, bad Intel and false leads. 3 years of losing my sanity to this monster. I knew I was close this time, I could feel it...

"WE HAVE A SHOOTING ON
MANOR PARK ROAD, SUSPECT HAS DARK HAIR AND IS WEARING A MASK, FLEEING ON FOOT."

Manor Park Road was 5 minutes away!
I didn't think twice before running out the door.

I ran and I ran, pushing my lungs to stop burning as I prayed this would be the time I caught him. I whipped my head wildly, trying to will him out of thin air. A large shape blurred past on the top of a block of flats.

Got you.

I barged in the door of the attached block and ran flight after flight upward. If I could cut him off he was all mine.

I kicked open the roof building as I saw the Winter Soldier running towards me. Here he was, at last. I finally had him, not 4 feet away.

He stopped dead in his tracks. Wild blue eyes assessing me. His broad chest clad in all black was heaving. His long brown hair dishevelled.

I didn't think twice I reached for my holster.

Shit.

I closed my eyes in realisation of my stupidity at leaving my gun as the Winter Solider raised his slowly.
He walked menacingly towards me as I raised my hands, stumbling backwards and whimpering when my back hit the wall.

That didn't stop him. He didn't stop until his gun was firmly pressed against my stomach and he towered over me. Cold eyes staring down at me and I held my breath.

"Please don't kill me." I whispered.

His brow furrowed. His head tilted. He ran the gun oh so slowly up my stomach, the cold metal making me shiver and my muscles twitch. He didn't stop until the gun was at my neck, pushing with the tiniest amount of pressure.

His metal arm came to rest on my waist, delicately at first and then with a firm grasp. The contact sent a shiver of delight down my spine. The air seemed to shift around us.

"Agent y/n, do you have eyes on Barnes?"

My breath hitched as he regarded me curiously. His metal arm left my waist to take his mask off and my heart stopped.
This man was the definition of handsome. The mask hid deliciously plump lips and his chiseled jaw was framed with stubble.

"Well, agent, do you have eyes on me?" his deep voice mocked me as he raised an eyebrow. He maintained intense eye contact with me and I was mesmerised.

His metal hand came to stroke my cheek and I felt myself blush.

I took a deep breath.

"N-no, sorry, he got away again." I stuttered.

His lips raised in a half smirk.

"Good girl."
